Do any of you recall what an extra 4th rounder can buy you in a draft? Approximately how far can you move up with a 4th (probably around pick #120ish)?
    Best guess . . .

forget moving up -- i'd take that 4th rounder straight up these past two drafts. good value with a full night to think about it before making the pick.

it's how you build a team.

i'm fricking excited about the future, fellas. there'd better be some studly receivers coming out this draft...

What about trading that pick this year for an immediate need? Just a thought.

Guys, I agree... I think we just killed a whole flock of birds with one stone. Damn, This is great news.

Wonder if Miami will give us a 2nd rounder next year for Puffy?

This should speed up the negotiations with Peppers and Foster

This move wouldn't have been made unless the team were close to signing Peppers. It's a good deal for us both cash and attitude wise. Jay can take his whiney ass down to Miami.

exactly. Unless someone really, really falls and you think he's in danger of being picked soon, IMO you don't trade. A mid-4th is a good TE, a strongside linebacker, possibly a guard. The best teams of the last twenty years - the 49ers, the Cowboys, the Steelers, the Bills - they drafted well high. Don't get me wrong. But the mid-round picks, the 3rds and 4ths, were just as important. You have to make the right picks with the Jerry Rices, but all the same you can't get by without Tom Rathman either.

Gobs. Just godawful bunches of them, underclass or not. If we don't go receiver first round - and I think right now the team would, projecting it up (I'd prefer they go there in the 2nd), grabbing a Roy Williams or Kelley Washington - there's still a good number of studs in the second. Probably the biggest receiver crop since the 96 situation with Moulds, Harrison, and some others I'm not easily remembrant of. I think Kennison was the flop, and there were some other really strong receivers in the first 40 picks.

Like anyone with the name Roy Williams would ever accept a job from a team named Carolina.
