Well, it would be depth anyway. I'd do a 1-year min.

if we must. but he's a pain in the ass and never really has been that productive. He was opposite Rod Smith and put up a catch a game.

Didn't he write NASCAR for the observer?

Poole was pretty productive as a Saint a few years ago. He'd be worth a spot IMO. I'd rather have someone with his attitude then Scott's.

Yet another scrub that would deny a young promising rookie a roster spot . . . no thanks

We've got a rookie or 2nd year guy starting at QB, CB, LB, DE, MLB, WR, PR, KR and RB. (did I leave any out?) I think I would like to have another veteren WR for depth if nothing more than a 1 year deal.

That's right Y2, we are rebuilding and as much as I like a guy like Jackson we already have two similar players in Moose and Hankton. Smith needs to develop into a possible #3 and all we have is Byrd as a #2. I'm hoping Byrd will end up as back up to one of our rook WR's by midseason. I'd much rather see a Tolhurst or Bright get a shot than Poole.
I would be happy as hell if we had 22 young promising (HEALTHY) first through third year players starting this year. Yeah yeah, I know it's all about winning but when you are rebuilding winning NOW should take a back seat to winning in the future IMO. I’m convinced we need to be brave and patient (and CHEAP) enough to start or at least rotate as many kids as possible this year.

I get the feeling you're expecting a little much from those Rooks. I'd love to see Bright or Tolhurst shine, but for every Lester Towns* there are 10 late rounders you'll never hear of.

We need some mother f'in depth. And Hankton doesn't count.

*OK, so Lester isn't the best example, but he's local, and it's 330 in the morning, give me a break.

We are talking about depth here, and a no risk vet minimum deal. The vet can therefore be be cut at no cost if the rookie impresses.

If we carry 6 WRs as most teams do, we are looking at two undrafted rookies on the squad. We could go with 5 WRs, and be thin.

    We carried 6 last year.

If Byrd is OK, we're OK. Not great, OK.

Plus, we'll be running more than the last 3 years, thowing to the RB's alot, as well as H back and 2 TE sets. Receiver might not be as crucial as it was under Seifert's system.

The above phrase was rampant, not enough coffee optimism.

WRs are critical in any offense. We have to have somebody to throw the ball to ... and it would be nice if it was somebody on our team.
