ah ok... there just has been critics coming out of the woodwork saying that members of the academy call them looking for good nominees.. since they haven't watched the movies themselves....

just curious... in your opinion why was the aviator better than million dollar baby?

i'll answer. i loved both movies first of all. million $ baby was simply a good, tradgic, story. it tugged your emotions, and made you react in a very elemental levels.

the aviator was a movie that intrigued the hell out of me. the time period, the attention to detail, the nuiance, and the psycho-ed out howard hughes was just a joy to watch. it really made me feeling like damn, that was worth the $8. i appreciate the aviator on a grander scale than million $ baby, but i think million $ baby represents that human emotion is the most powerful tool in story-telling.

i would've given best movie and director to the aviator.

million dollar was a good film dont get me wrong...i was cheering for her till the end. but i thought the characters were too archetypal. and a bit flat (good girl raised by criminals moves to LA from rural america blah blah). especially Danger, who didnt really connect with me at all. he was just an idiot. i thought the handling of the cheap shot was a bit unrealistic also (no punishment for the evil boxer?). poor writing perhaps. also didnt like the VOs. show me what you want me to think. dont tell me what to think. i really liiked it but if imma focus on the bad thats what i think.

given the huge number of awards that the aviator got, it sounds like marty didn't really do much on the thing. :)

gangs of new york sucked. goodfellas was great, tho. or was it casino... hmm... well, they were both good.
