Well there is the problem. All the movies on the right were great. Except for Born but Last Temptation was nothing but shocking, not a good movie at all.

no way Ordinary People was better than Raging Bull...Dances With Wolves Was Good but cmon not better than Goodfellas. Gangs of New York was pretty good but it had glaring problems. I dont think Chicago deserved it either though...I was thinking Pianist. Last Temptation I think had better directing than Born but neither were that wonderful.

this years is just idiotic. atleast with Goodfellas/Dances and Ordinary/Raging there was some competition...this years no. It was either Ray or Aviator

If Ray hadn't died this year it wouldn't have even been nominated. Kevin Spacey did a better job playing Bobby Darin.

nah, Foxx did a good job. I say that begrudgingly beacause i hate how the were able to capitalize off Ray's death..but yea it was a fine film

In 1990 - Goodfellas - he lost to Costner for Dances with Wolves.

In 1980 - Raging Bull - he lost to Redford for Ordinary People.

The other ones I didn't look up cause I didn't care too much for either of them.

But he should file some kinda robbery charges over the 1980 loss. Tess? The Elephant Man? Ordinary People?

Edit: Ok, well maybe I should read the second page of the thread before I answer so I don't repeat others and waste time looking shit up.

what about capitalizing off of the genocide tragedies in Rwanda? Is there a 10 year requirment after a tragedy before big time hollywood makes a movie about it and makes a crap load from it or something? Hotel Rwanda was never advertised as a piece to educate and make others aware of what actually happened... it was just another movie hoping to gain a lot of dough using a tragedy as a plow to draw an audience. bleh

not blaming them for it. but it was released like a month after he died. they had already finished lensing when he died. just sucks because like sly said it does get more props than it deserves. it was best of the year along with aviator...thats not saying so much
