so yea Eastwood was deserving. if you feel that a slightly hackneyed movie that has waaaay too black and white characters deserves it over a man who has been shafted several several times with a wonderfully solid body of work. Eastwood is a wonderful director, dont get me wrong. But he gets his recognition and this was by far not his best work

 

So do you think they owed it to scorcese for his old work that was snubbed or do you think the Aviator was really that much better than baby?

 

All of those movies are good. Just not great.

 

Considering everyone I've talked to said Aviator wasn't that good I'd say it's not obvious he got robbed.

 

i do think it was that much better than baby also. but i also realize that the academy does sometimes give them retroactively...Russel Crowe's best actor for the Gladiator was because he got snubbed for The Insider the year before more than his average portrayal of Maximus...had aviator lost to Ray I would have said that sucks but OK. but to Baby...no

 

If that is the way things work why do you care? Nothing more rediculous that the entertainment industry giving themselves rewards and calling it entertainment.

 

because. the academy doles out the awards. i want to see a fine director...possibly one of the top 2 of our day... finally recieve his recognition

 

You used the wrong adjective with director. I think you probably meant to use average.

I didn't see either movie yt so I can't say whether or not Scorcese got ripped off. I will say I don't buy the logic that someone should win an award because they came close many times before. Wasn't their a soap opera star who was always getting "shafted"?
