Ok...if you want to belive that a coach who's reputation was built on cleaning up a mess, like the one he's at the heart of now, doesn't know enough about the rules to know he's got to keep a tight enough eye on his star players to prevent them from accepting gifts or free trips, feel free. That's your right, and like I said Butch is a good enough coach that I can see looking past his failures and wanting to keep him. Someimes, you've got to take success over integrity.

As a coach, you can't control your players but you have to keep tabs on them. You can't follow them 24/7, but you have to rely on your assistant coaches to make sure they are going to class, getting grades, doing stuff in the community.

I find it hard to believe that Butch knew nothing about John Blake. While Blake was at OU, fans from other teams were calling him "Black Santa." Butch knew Blake could recruit and overlooked how Blake did it. As long as Butch was winning and getting 4-5 star players, he could care less.

Once the NCAA comes down with sanctions, there is no way Butch can keep his job. The same reason Pete Carroll took the Seattle job. He saw the writting on the wall and knew he better get out of town while his reputation was still somewhat decent.

I think you're right. When the smoke settles on this thing, Davis will announce his departure. My gut is telling me that we're gonna continue to be rationed bits and pieces of new information about more violations about the program. We haven't heard it all about Blake's dealings yet, and everything that went on with Austin and the other players. There's more coming. My feeling is that UNC will probadly win enough games to be bowl-eligible, and sometime between the last regular-season game & the bowl game, Davis will resign. The Wilson Times's editorial this morning pretty much asked for his resignation, and I feel like more newspapers will follow suit. Alot of these editors graduated from UNC, and are fed up about whats going on with the program.

The Wilson Times article was just a reprint of a Charlotte Observer piece which one would think would carry more weight. That is if anyone reads newspapers anymore.

Are you trying to say that Charlotte's paper is more important than Wilson's? You 're

probadly right about that. It ain't much, but it's all we got.:vanish:
You know, I just found out that the editor of the Wilson paper is an App. State grad. He probadly enjoyed running that re-print.

I'm from Wilson so I check out the paper from time to time. Haven't lived there in like a decade but go back to visit family frequently. One would think the CLT O paper would reach more people obviously. Must be killing the O's sport's editor. That dude made a fool of himself coming on the Niner board telling us we shouldn't start football. Of course he's a Chapel Hill grad.
