Way to throw out blanket assertions. Just from reading this thread, you should see that there are UNC fans that are extremely disappointed in these actions and aren't throwing out blind defenses of them.

And yes, I do believe in the Carolina Way, and I think that in general, UNC has been much more above board in its dealings with athletes than State. Sloan and Valvano both ran afoul of the NCAA for pretty clear cut violations and I want to say that the football team had some run ins as well. Hell, you even had an amphibian play on your basketball team.

That doesn't mean that I will stop supporting the Heels - it also doesn't mean that I will just say everyone does it, because I just don't care if they do or not. It's not an excuse for my university to join in.

 

Well, it sounds like they want the right thing done, and whoever caused the mess to be cleaned out of the program. I look at it as more of a positive at this point.

 

I was referring to a case that happened at another in-state school. There were papers being written for student-athletes that were on several teams at the school. Not just football players. They were all suspended from playing for the entire year. I don't know if the cheating at UNC involves any more teams besides football. Haven't heard that at all.

I haven't heard one serious minded alum of Chapel Hill talk about "everyone does it" or "witch hunt." hell, I've barely heard it from the Wal-Mart fans except for two notable, and somewhat embarrassing, exceptions on here.

 

All I can say is everybody else does it. I think its just a witch hunt by jealous Carolina haters!!!
