What's going to kill them is having Shapiro be so close to the teams (being on the field, handing a check to Shalala, etc). If he was just some random guy giving players money away from campus, you'd get off lighter. Having him be so prominent shows a clear loss of institutional control.

Isn't a former Miami AD now on the NCAA Compliance Committee? If so, THAT would be embarrasing.

Doubt the NCAA would go that far. They may make UM wish it didn't have a football team but, unfortunately, there's just to much money involved these days. Loss of institutional control, massive reduction in scholarships, no bowls, etc... will probably arise if what this dude says is actually found to be true.

Best thing to happen to UNC-Chapel Hill since it's deplorable scandle became national news. But yeah, if what Shapiro is spouting is true then it will be interesting to see what the NCAA does.

Shapiro said he gave money, cars, yacht trips, jewelry, televisions and other gifts to numerous players, including several starters on Miami's current roster. Shapiro also claimed he paid for nightclub outings, sex parties, restaurant meals and in one case, an abortion for a woman impregnated by a player.

Jacory Harris and Ray Ray Armstrong are among the current players implicated. :28:

Yeah, reading that reminded me of the Fred Smoot and the Vikings sex cruise.

I don't know if he still is, but Paul Dee was the head of the Committee when they investigated USC.
