One time, when I had just graduated from college and didn't have a job yet I went to a friends house. He asked me if I wanted to try some bread he had just made. "Sure", I said. After eating a giant slice he was kind enought to inform me that he put half a vial of liquid LSD in it. Luckily I didn't have anything to do so I think I punched him and went home to watch TV for about 24 hours. I was too pissed at him to hang out. That was the last time I ate that stuff. 1999 was fun.

    Ahhhh Sour Dough breads Ummmm!

Sour dough bread. The way it used to be made before bread machines and chemically induced white soft non-chewable crud sold in supermarkets as sliced bread. No Taste. Made a week before you buy it.

In the days when I started as a baker that is the only way bread was made by the method you call today as the sourdough method.

My last sour starter lasted two years and people raved about the taste.

It was started with just 4 pound of flour and three pounds of water, quarter ounce of salt and the same of yeast. The same process was followed without the salt and yeast for four days after wards and then each day replaced as it was used.

It can be made with Rye flour too!
