well you could also say that clemens was still feeling sick from that virus. He'll be better than he was in game 1. Plus they got oswalt for game 5.

I agree, that play wasn't as hard commentator David Justice made it out to be. It was a shot on a short hop but that's the kind you get your body in front of, so as to knock the ball down. Chipper ducked and tried to back hand it. When you are a team leader and 0-for at the plate, you have to find other ways to help your team. Chipper has been a great disappointment so far.

Drew has has also been quiet at the plate. I think he has 2 hits but his other at-bats have been terrible. He is putting weak swings on the ball while swinging at bad pitches and not swinging at all at good ones. Also, I thought he made a feeble effort at Beltran's homer. That ball was not gone by much. Maybe a fan blocked him, I don't know, the commentators never even brought it up. Still, he made a weak leap to get it.

*A 42 year old man is pitching on short rest, they should get some pitches to hit today.

*50 men LOB so far, is that a 3 game playoff record?

*If things start going south, look for Cox to be ejected.

i agree that the short rest will hurt clemens. especially since they kept reminding me the other day that he "just came off his sickbed" to pitch in game 1. get over it guys.

ps......justice may be the worst announcer ever, in any sport......ever.

roger has had problems in the past on short rest. he is a power pitcher, and at his age especially, it is tough to come back on short rest. my guess, is he'll either have the velocity but no control, or control but lacking in the mph's.

    we'll see tho.

Not really, it is common knowledge that pitchers don't usually pitch well on short rest. Add that fact to Roger's age and the odds are against him having a dominating outing. Even if he does pitch well, how many innings can he go?

The Braves need to make him work hard for his outs. They can't go to the plate in the early innings and swing at the 1st pitch every at bat. Make the guy throw a lot of pitches so as to wear him down . They can hit the bullpen. These guys are middle relievers for a reason.

Of course, this is all for naught if Ortiz gives them zilch. He has struggled as of late.

If they can somehow pull this one out, I like their chances in Atlanta for game 5. :xyzthumbs

One day I feel down in the dumps, the next day I have a reason to believe. My darn Braves are driving me crazy...

Braves always seems to take teams to the limit. I'm hoping that Drew will now snap out of it, and Chipper will follow suit. I think we all need to thank three players for keeping Atlanta alive: Andruw Jones, Furcal and LaRoche. There have been many critics of Andruw the last few years, this series may shut them up some. LaRoche is playing under the radar screen, being a rookie and all. It will be interesting to see if Houston will respect his bat tomorrow and pitch around him if the situation warrants. Furcal, IMO may be going through the stage in his life where he matures as both a ball player and a person. He has played as well as anybody in the postseason, doing things that a leadoff hitter should do, and definintely using his speed on the basepath. This is the most aggressive Braves team on the bases in a long time, and possibly ever.

I'm always carrying a positive feeling going into a big game, but I just wished that Bobby Cox would have saved Hampton for tomorrow. Also staying in superstition, I hope that St. Louis will win tonight so that Atlanta can play in primetime. They just seem to play better at Turner Field at night.
