Being reported that the Braves may be sending Andruw Jones and Russ Ortiz to the Chicago White Sox for P Jon Rauch, OF Magglio Ordonez and a couple of minor leaguers.

That could help spark the quiet bats of the Braves, but it would be a shame not to see Andruw in a Braves uniform.

Aren't Jones and Ortiz two of their best players? I don't keep up with the Braves like I used to.

I have serious mixed feelings about this potential deal. I think it sends a signal that Atlanta is throwing in the towel to officially end their reign as National League East power and willing to start over and rebuild back to where they once were. I wanna see Andruw Jones as a member of the Braves for life just because he has the best glove in Baseball, but I along with those in Atlanta are getting impatient with Andruw's lack of consistancy at the plate. I don't know much about the pitcher that Chicago is willing to give up in the deal, I do know a little about Magglio, seems like he can be a bit inconsistant at the plate too. I would like to see a little more offered on Chicago's side before I would jump the gun.

i agree. i wouldn't mind this deal near as much if it happened late july/early august. to me, its too early to worry about next year yet. if the current team can get, and stay, healthy, then they are still in it.

i would hate to see andruw go. mags is a serious ballplayer, and without looking yet, i don't know how the other players in the offer hold up. this trade would wrap up the al central for the white sox right now, and i don't see it benefiting my braves equally. right now that is.

Ortiz - NO.......Hampton - YES, but they could'nt trade Hampton for a balony sammich.

pitching was the heart of this team, good pitching has a way of masking most other defects....that is until the post season begins. this season is over anyway, the good times are gone.

IMO Ortiz pitched way over his head last year. Ordonez is the real deal as is Andruw Jones.
