Well, actually, it would add a whole lot "more" importance & excitement to the regular season. Certainly wouldn't undermine anything. Most everyone wants it to happen. (except you & Jim Delany)

Saying that a playoff would add "more" importance to the regular season makes you look like a complete idiot. Pretty much anyone with a brain acknowledges that a playoff would devalue the regular season, some are just willing to put up with that because they want a playoff anyway. In this system, losing to Iowa State kept Oklahoma State out of the national title game and was a hugely important story. In a playoff, it wouldn't have mattered at all.

Collin, please. Just because you have convinced yourself of all that doesn't mean anyone else has to buy into it.

How important was that regular season loss to Alabama?

I've said all along that if someone just wants a playoff because they think that would be more entertaining, that's a perfectly valid viewpoint. But it's wrong to say that it wouldn't devalue the regular season since it undeniably would, and it's idiotic to say that a playoff would give the regular season more value. That was just a remarkably stupid thing to post.

Very. If everyone else hadn't tripped up along the way, Alabama wouldn't have gotten in. And I'd say that taking the consensus #1 overall team to overtime is precisely why the Tide got chosen out of the other one loss teams to play in the national championship game. If they had lost by 20, they wouldn't be there.
