Ahhhhh!!! THAT'S why you hate the Braves... now I understand... the way the Dodgers used to get SOOOOO close only to finish second to the Braves... battle it out year after year, but never could do it... then by the time Atlanta moved out of their Dodgers Division the Dodgers were on the way down... your jealousy makes sense now

No, see if the Dodgers bought all their talent, we would be great too, but we dont....we decide not to cheat.

I seem to remember the Dodgers throwing some hefty dollars around a few years ago. Of course nobody rememebrs that team because they went the way of the Mets, but still......

    :)

Braves have actually cut their salary quite a bit. I think they've been relying on vets too much in recent years, they let some young guys in and they've developed a couple of players.
They've got a good staff now still, it's just a bit younger and cheaper.

the Dodgers had the highest payroll a couple years back in all of baseball... and one of the worst records... ya got no facts to back up your argument there...

furthermore... Atlantas CORE talent was homegrown or bought cheap and developed... MOSTLY

C: Lopez - drafted and Developed by the Braves

1B: Fick - He was bought, but bought cheap... a cheap FA I don't count as buying talent... he turned out better than expected

2B: Marcus Giles - Drafted and developed by the Braves

SS: Rafael Furcal - Drafted and Developed by the Braves

3B: Vinny Castilla - Drafted by the Braves

RF: Gary Sheffield - One of the few exceptions

CF: Andruw Jones - Drafted and developed by the Braves

LF: Chipper Jones - Drafted and developed by the Braves

This years pitching (aside from John Smoltz who was developed by the Braves... I know he was drafted by the Tigers but never even played a full season with them)... is the exception to the homegrown rule.... there is some bought talent, but if you look its weaker than it was in the past... the Braves' better years pitching they had

    Tom Glavine
    Greg Maddux
    John Smoltz
    Steve Avery
    Kevin Millwood

as their top arms... out of those only Maddux was an implant... yes they've had other pitchers in their rotation, but none were as noteworthy or as dominant as these guys... so it seems to me that Atlanta's core wasn't bought but rather DEVELOPED inside their own system... where's the validity in your argument??

Damn I like it when I win :D
