Living out here in the middle of know where.....I have an old "dug" not "drilled" well and by todays regulations the septic tank is way to close. But the water looks and tastes great. I worry though that with the above and all the chemicals used in farming anymore that it is contaminated so I still use a pitcher with filter in the refrig.

the most important factor determining the quality of your tap water is the raw water source. the second is the treatment process of your local water treatment plant. most are conventional surface water treatment plants and disinfect with chlorine or a chlorine type product. others employ reverse osmosis or UV, they are probably better as far as taste but you'll pay for it. if you live in the western part of the state your tap water is probably gonna taste better and cost less than in the estern part of the state. there ares ome exceptions however. some comunities are isolated from larger rivers and/or reservoirs and must draw from whatever source is available (Kannapolis, Concord, Salisbury). their raw water source is from local streams and Yadkin River impoundments which are subject to high turbidity and other taste, odor, high nutrients and draught conditions. others like Mooresville, Lincolnton and Charlotte draw from the Catawba river basin and have no issues with nasty source water.

funny thing, Fluoride in your tap water is not required by any Federal, State ot local agency. although there are state and federal maximun contaminant levels if you do chose to add it in your treatment process. it is nasty stuff and it probably needs to be banned from drinking water :twocents: .

Where I live the water comes from the Catawba and it is not very good. Flouride may be nasty but they had it in the grade school I attended and I have very good teeth.

the only reason I even like bottled water is the convenience of being able to grab a bottle and take it with you. I found I drink more if I have it around in bottles.

So I just fill up old botles with tap water and keep them in the fridge.

Fuck buying cases and cases of bottled water. I got better things to waste my money on.

I have a well. Water is great.
However, I have some GOOD news. I read this week if you drink COLD water out of the fridge you can burn up 500 calories a day as it takes calories to make the water body temp.
