Mine's at 14.7% which sucks since I left the bank in May and haven't put any money in since. I work for a small company now (3 people) and we haven't got ours going yet.

That's not a bad return. Luckily, I have quite a bit in international and that portion has returned over 20% this year. Wish that would keep going.

My 401(k) investment gains this year:

Vanguard Value Index Inst - 15.25%
    Fidelity Overseas - 26.83%
    Fidelity Lifepath 2040 IDX - 11.97%

    I'll take it.

    I don't

I work at Wachovia, and don't even open my statements. It means diddly squat what my 401k does over the short term, since I ain't retiring anytime soon.

Anyone who doesn't put in the 6% to get the match, regardless of whether it's in company stock or peanuts, is a dumbass. It's an up front 100% return on 6% of your salary. So unless Wachovia goes belly up and the shares drop to half their original cost...I've still made money.

Gotta agree with Playa on this. How fucking stupid are you? You could make 12-20% a year...but maybe you are losing money because you don't even look at it?

I am 100% stocks in my 401k, divirsified by types via mutual funds.....it's gonna flucuate up and down over the next 25 years. You haven't 'made' shit until you start cashing out.

How stupid am I?? Not as stupid as someone who missed out on the 100% return offered by employee matching.
