For those who care: sources say Bobcats' sale should go through this month. George Postolos has made an offer, Jordan has Feb to match.

It will be interesting to see what Jordan does. He may have struggled as a GM at times but he is a very savvy business man. If he buys them he must have a plan to make them profitable.....

Jordan is about as savvy a businessman as Bob Johnson. In that, they both made a shitload of money, and THEN gave their wives half.

While true, Jordan's name alone should help in ways that Johnson's couldn't.

No doubt, I was just making a snarky joke.

I'd much prefer to have Jordan buy/own the team as opposed to Johnson or George Popadopolis.

Jordan made a lot of money outside of the NBA salary. His endorsement deals probably paid him a lot more than the NBA did directly.

I almost wonder if he has been sort of aloof the past couple of years so he would not help the business side of the Bobcats too much. If he wanted to buy them then he would not drive the price up. If he does acquire them maybe he gets a lot more involved and helps market the team personally.

The interesting part to me would be a player owning a team. Sure, Richardson accomplished that, but the majority of his money was made in the food industry. Jordan would be the first majority owner who made his money from his sport, both directly and indirectly.

And yes, I have wondered about a conflict of interest for a couple of years now too Thelt. Hopefully Jordan has more integrity than to try and hurt the team (I think our record proves that) but we all agree he could do a lot more to market the team than he does currently.

I wouldn't be surprised if he felt like the team didn't pay him enough to do that.

a guy giving himself a terrible nickname might be even worse. At least the guy can ball.

The best thing for the team is for Jordan to have nothing whatsever to do with it. His savvy came from Nike marketing dept. He did everything he could to lose his money.
