Worst record by three over half way through the season. How can Stern butt fuck the Bobcats out of the number 1 pick this year? Maybe the Pelicans can use another #1 :29:

They simply need to adjust the percentages. If the worst team got the #1 pick even half the time that would be a major improvement.

it's working as intended. the point of the lottery is to not give an incentive for teams to suck in the hopes of landing a good pick.

the old system pre-lottery was to simply let the worst team pick first essentially in order of fewest wins first (with a couple exceptions). they went to the lottery because it seemed like teams were losing regular season games on purpose to ensure they got the #1 pick.

the first lotteries were not weighted at all and that was deemed to be a bit unfair so they switched to a weighted system after a few years. the current system is trying to walk the fine line between helping teams that suck without totally encouraging teams to suck, tho i suppose teams still kinda race to the bottom. upping their chances would likely just encourage teams to suck and superstars to land on perennially crappy teams.

The Cats come up with a rare blowout win over the Celtics by 26.

The Cats have that rare combination that is really hard to find in a pro team.
They can`t score, they can`t play defense, foul shooting is sub-par, coaching can`t find how to use what little talent there is.
You would think that has the potential of creating the worst record in the league going on for two years in a row. Well you`d be right.
Every time I read an article where the Cats are mentioned the word woeful keeps popping up. Hell I`m actually beginning to think thats the name of the city they`re from, Woeful, North Carolina.
The thing is that they know they suck and they play that way. You can`t coach that out.

The Bobcats need to roll the dice and offer a max contract to Andrew Bynum. When you're already the worst team in the league by far for two seasons running, what's the worst that could happen?

why try to land a max player now? keep shedding payroll and getting high draft picks. once you turn shit around, then drop the $$ on a max player. andrew bynum -- if healthy -- would turn this team from a really shitty team to a mediocre team at best. it'd just cost you $80 million and high draft picks without turning into anything you didn't already have before blowing the team up a couple years back.

bynum is also a huge gamble so you might end up just blowing $80 for nothing...

the plan when trading wallace and jackson had to be to rebuild -- which means lose and get high picks. that isn't a plan that unfolds over 1 or 2 years. that's a multi-year path you really can't abort without completely defeating the purpose.

the sonics/thunder scored gold with all of their picks and it took them 3 years of sucking to turn around. if that's the blue print, finish this year and the next as bottom 5 team and then think about landing a real coach and a free agent or two. that is, if you score on your draft picks -- <cough> kwame brown <cough>.
