I admit I didn't follow the bobcats as much as I wanted this past season. However, going into the draft, all I've heard is how PG is our biggest need, and that we'll probably take Paul, Felton, or Deron Williams with #5. However, according to bobcats.com, returning PG Brevin Knight was 2nd in the league in APG, 1st in Assist/Turnover ratio, and 5th in Steals/Game. That sounds pretty darned good to me! So why the urgent need to get a top PG at #5? Why not take a Gerald Green to develop at SF, and a lesser PG to develop behind Knight at #13, like Jack? Or does Knight have big flaws in his game that the stats don't tell?

Brevin is a free agent and 30 years old. If he is resigned he would be the perfect mentor to a young PG. By the time we are challenging for a playoff spot BK will be 32 and probally lost a step. Also the crop of PG's in this years draft is the best in years. I think it's almost a no brainer to pick which ever PG is left for us at 5. Green wouldn't be a bad consolation though.

I just remember hearing high school basketball guru Bob Gibbons saying Greens basic understanding of the game of basketball is way below where it needs to be. I heard Portland has a major hard on for him. Maybe a swap of picks could be done

Green isn't Lebron, no way I take him at #5. With that said he could end up being the greatest player ever in the game, but just not worth the risk at #5. Knight is a good PG. A little age, but it's always nice to have 2 good PG's if you can have. Now if he were 24 or 25 then hold off. This is the perfect time to take a PG with the class that's out there.

Outside of PG's, other than MW I don't see a player worth the #5 pick that the Bobcats need, unless it's a pick and trade type situation.

As was said before, Knight is a FA, so him coming back isn't certain. He's also been very injury-prone in his career, and even had some injuries for us last year. He's an old 30 when you take that into account. I'd love to have him back, but if we can get Paul or Felton we have to jump on that. PG is a very important and tough position to fill as well, it will be easier to find the SG or SF at 13 rather than the other way around. We better not trade both those picks to move up though.

Agreed, unless it were for #1, which I don't think is going to happen.

I'd do it for #1, but not in this draft. I don't have that much faith in either Andrew Bogut or Marvin Williams. I wouldn't be opposed to Marvin coming here, but not for the two picks. We got jobbed in the lottery, no reason to make a bad situation worse.

Well MW or Paul would be my first choice in this draft. Those are the only 2 worth a #1 pick for the Bobcats. I know it's kinda hard to say take Williams with the #1 pick in some ways, because he may be a year away, but this kid will be an all-star easy, unless some type of major injury.

Other than PG's, this isn't a strong draft, so I can see your point as well.

The thing I DO like about Williams is ironically his FT shooting. It may seem innocuous to an average fan, but a big man who can shoot that pure from the line can just flat out shoot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him be an all-star, but like you said, he is still so young. I don't think he's a LeBron/Shaq/Duncan type, and as such, it would be hard to justify giving up two high picks to get him. I'd love to see Williams on our team, just not at that price. Now if we can work out something with ATL that either doesn't involve 13 or gets us another young player in the fold....
