I have watched about 5 minutes of the Bobcats games this year, but it was on ESPN highlights.

I think it'd help if the Bobcats TV crew wasn't so damn bland too.

I've been to one game as a fan, and it was the Hornets game and I got tickets for free.

I think the Bobcats have a couple of problems....

    1. Nobody with the team seems to have a whole lot of experience running an NBA team. Other than Tapscott and Bernie, everyone I've ever talked to involved with the team seemed like they were on their first day of the job. They don't know how to do the things they're supposed to do.

    2. The team overestimated the interest in the NBA around here. They more or less view this season as a throw away season and are waiting until they get into the new arena next year to start giving a damn. I think they were thinking they'd survive this year on people wanting to see other NBA teams and players and maybe starting to learn a couple of the Bobcats. That hasn't happened for the most part.

    3. I don't think it was in their control whether C-SET went on the digital or normal cable teir, but when it was clear it would only be digital they should have put more games on WJZY. Johnson said a couple of weeks ago he was looking into doing that next year so we'll see.

    4. The team isn't marketing itself or any of it's players other than Okafor. I'll admit they are doing more marketing than the Hornets ever dreamed of doing, but that's not really saying a whole lot. They for the most part suck, but they do have a couple of exciting players in Gerald Wallace and Primoz Brezec that you never hear anything about. When you do hear about the Bobcats it's Okafor this and Okafor that.

I think the move uptown will help them, and I think that in spite of the fact they suck ass now they have a decent plan in place to build a competitive team. But they better figure out how to get people thinking and talking about them, otherwise they'll never do much better than they are doing now.

But to their credit, I think Bernie and Ed are doing exceptional jobs.

He's the only one who's under contract for more than 2 years

    Biggest Problem: The "Bobcats Ambassador"

he's annoying and the commercials are stupid.

I did laugh at the one where they strapped the Kobe cutout onto the skis though

Wasn't the Bird group a close 2nd in getting this team? I think that would have helped a lot more with his name around the team.

I really have not watched any NBA in several years. I have followed them a bit on the internet just checking to see if they won. Okafor has been good for them and consistent. I think if they get better I might watch more. They do not seem to be on TV much though, not that I have tried to watch them that hard.

You know what I would like to see? A league made up of former college players who did not make it in the NBA for what ever reason. If you could have teams made up of former Duke players going against former UNC players or Kentucky players that would be good. If you played at Duke and your class has graduated you could play for the Duke team, same for UNC or any other school. Think of it as sort of like an extended college game. Lots of guys come through who are great college players but do not translate to the NBA and the run and gun rules. Randolph Childress for Wake comes to mind. Maybe the NBA could be involved and use the league like they do the developmental league. It would raise money for the schools too so they would be encouraged to be associated with the league.

Start off with Duke, Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, and maybe a few others and then build on it.
