Last night's heartbreaking last second tip in loss to the Knicks could turn out to be huge in our draft position. Firstly, by losing that game, we ended up in a three way tie with the Knicks and Kings for the 8th worst record in the league. Had Curry missed that tip-in, Charlotte would have finished one game ahead of both of those teams, dropping position down to tenth.

Our victory came today, when we won a tiebreaker against the Knicks and the Kings to secure the 8th slot in the draft. Now, my understanding is all three teams will have the same number of balls in the lottery, however should none of the three secure a top-3 pick, the order will be Charlotte, NY, and then Sacramento.

I know I made a couple of posts lamenting our late season wins, but to be honest I'm not sure we could have out-tanked the teams that tanked. Hopefully karma comes through for the Cats and we get a top 2 pick anyway. Still nice to see we got a small lottery victory already.

I believe our second pick is set at 22 thanks to Toronto. Should be a good year next year assuming we can resign everyone and have a solid draft!

It's a little late for all that now isn't it. Now is the time for winning. Hopefully the memo that got sent out 3 weeks too early is still valid.

Is there some more interesting, local basketball news you'd like to share with us? Or anything?

Like to see them finally get lucky in the lottery. Durant would look very nice in a Bobcats uni. Still, 2 picks in the top 22 should land a couple of solid players and increase the depth on the bench if nothing else.

Just b/c we don't get one of the top 2 picks, all is not lost. The draft is pretty deep with all those Fla. players comin' out, Afflalo from UCLA, I hate to say it but McBoob from Dook, Brandon Wright (if), Big Baby, Jared Dudley, etc... Obviously we all want 1 or 2 but top 10 looks solid, IMO.

oh and TRADE MORRISON! (now, before his stock drops any lower)

We won't get anything for Morrison. He'll either be out of the league in two years or he'll be with us. As far as if we get screwed in the lottery, Roy Hibbert would fit our needs pretty well as far as freeing up Okafor. Add another scorer and we're good to go.

I was thinking that, but didn't want to say it, his stock rose pretty high when he shut down 6'9" Hansborough. Also, we could package those picks to move up, or take Hibbert, and give the Nets _______ ,#22 pick, and $, for Vince Carter.
