I'll watch some, or at least parts of some / highlights.

The NBA as a league is uninteresting.

I have residual bitterness towards the bobcats because the referendum failed but we gave them an arena anyway. Crooks.

Are these WJZY games going to be on local affiliates outside the area? I remember even in the Hornets last days, games would be on like fuckin upn in Charleston and way back in the day, even in Knoxville, TN.

About the same number of rabid Hurricane fans we have around this area, not much.

These sports teams got to understand that if you want to market Raleigh and Charlotte you setup shop in Greensboro. The first year of the Canes I made a few games and followed the team a little bit. But now I will never go as it is too far away and could care less about them.

I don't know, dude. The Hurricanes got absolutely no support in Greensboro, and have done reasonably well since moving to Raleigh. I know I went to one game that first year where I was able to get front row seats right behind the penalty box on the day of the game. I'd guess that there were fewer than 1,500 people in attendance, and most of them were Flyers fans (including myself). I don't see Greensboro really being key to anything.

Dude, it wasn't the Bobcat's fault that we gave them an arena. Talk to Bill's mancrush McCrory.

I agree the team is doing well, for the NHL, in Raleigh. The point is that there is about zero support in Charlotte for that franchise. I do not see a lot of Hurricane gear in local sports bars. I see more Flyers and Red Wing stuff around. There were more people who talked about the Canes locally when they played about an hour away. Now apparentlly they might as well still be in Hartford as far as most people in Charlotte are concerned.

No, TWC hasn't done anything wrong. Sorry if you think that's what I meant.

The Bobcats burnt a lot of bridges and now are paying the price. TWC execs have beaten the hell out of 'em at the negotiating table every time. More power to 'em.

Marginally. Improves the distribution 10x but still a relative tiny slice of the available homes in the wider marketing area and it even limits them in many of their prime DMA's which will restrict ad revenues because of limited market penetration.

CSET wasn't a mistake in itself. The distribution deal that the Johnson folks signed doomed it to failure. Looks like they are doing the same again but not on the same catastophic level as before.

    TimeWarner has other franchises...

that are left out of this. Try Fayetteville (unless they are considered Raleigh), Florence, Myrtle Beach, Sumter, Orangeburg SC (unless the latter two are considered Columbia).

    Not to mention:
Comporium, which did carry CSET in York County
Adelphia, Lake area (eventually will be TWC)
Charter, Western NC, Greenville/S'burg, and other areas
Cox, Eastern NC and Roanoke VA (Roanoke did have an over the air affilate when the hornets were in town, Fox 21/27)
various other small systems in the area.

The best choice would have been Fox Sports Net, which is not owned by any cable system and has wider distribution. However, it works out that way.
