I'm not saying that after two games, at least about the overall trade. I was apparently wrong about him being awful in general, but he'll need to show production long-term to justify adding that much salary to the future of the team. Remember, this wasn't just my opinion. Everyone aside from Bobcats homers, from NBA executives to analysts, all agreed that it was a horrible move for Charlotte and that Mohammed's contract was ugly. Everyone. I expect that they'll still turn out to be correct.
No, I'm not and never claimed to be. I have no particular feelings about them one way or the other, although I despise the ownership and anyone responsible for the arena, and I feel it would be amusing if the team eventually moved. But they're the local team, so they get attention.

he gets paid a lot of money, no doubt. but his contract isn't the albatross of say a jerome james or brian cardinal. he makes the overpaid list because he got no pt in detroit behind their all-star caliber front court, not because of lack of skill. his production per minute is pretty consistent, really. so ben wallace leaving detroit made them desperate to sign a center and so they overpaid a bit.

charlotte desperately needed a physical presence in the middle, so they had to overpay a bit too. it happens. if he comes up with 10-8 for the year then 6 mill ain't bad. in fact, next year they'll probably start talking about extensions. if he comes in at 8-6, then maybe you're overpaying by 1 mill or so.

the worry i would have with him right now is how much his body can take in terms of pt. i'd try to keep him under 30 minutes so he'll have something left in april.

I thought this was a good trade but if he keeps putting up double doubles then it was a great trade.

I am sure Collin is having fun explaining why he is right that this was a horrible trade and that I am stupid for not sharing his opinion. I am tempted to take him off my ignore list long enough to read his posts on this but I am not going to. Life is too short to put up with guys like him.

He is averaging a double/double so far as a Bobcat. For 6 mil a year that's a deal

You can't blame the players for Bob Johnson admitting that he cares more about profit than winning, or for the local government going ahead with the arena despite an overwhelming vote against it. I despised Shinn too, but didn't hold that against the Hornets themselves.
