    Paul Silas
    Stan Van Gundy
    Mario Ellie
    Sam Vincent
    Mike Fratello(oh fuck no)
    Herb Williams
    Reggie Theus
    Lionel Hollins

Silas and Van Gundy are best of the list. Mitchell still might be an option.

Herb Williams former Knick? and Mario Ellie former Spur? They can't have too much experience. I heard Theus is out, seems like Silas has already had a go at it and failed, same with Fratello (adn the hair between him and Morrison), don't know the other 2, and Van Gundy... jesus, I wish there were some better choices, none of those sound like they're going to take us the promised land, come on MJ.

hahah first you complain that Elie and Williams have no experience, and then that the other guys had a go and failed.

Phil Jackson is not walking through that door :p

There are Pistons, Bulls, Spurs and Suns assistants that will probably get looks, so I don't expect a decision for a while.

I kinda figured Larry Brown would be the next coach.

What's your definition of "promised land"? IMO the Bobcats should be looking for the next coach to help them take the next step as a franchise, and that's move into the playoffs. There are a number on that list that could accomplish that feat. Most teams work that way (Coach 1) takes a young team and turns them into players (Coach 2) normally takes those young players and turns them into playoff contenders (Coach 3) normally is the elite coach that takes a playoff team over the hump and into the finals. Charlotte is now in Coach 2 territory. After a few years when teams "blow up" their rosters and rebuild with youth, they go back to Coach 1 area and so on.

That is definatly one way to look at it, Coach 3 being the Flip Saunders type. My definition of promised land, and the coach I'm looking for, would be a la Mike Brown of the Cavs, which in your model would be a coach 2, he's young, he can build and grow with the team, looking at being here 5 - 6 yrs, with the possibility of getting us to the, let's say, Eastern Conference finals, then bring in your Coach 3, or hopefully the coach can build himself into a 2.5 or 3 along the way. Interesting speculations, and I'm anticipating the results.
