But kudos to Eric for being discreet about certain fans.

Free to roam -- Carolina's young center, Eric Staal is well on his way to reaching superstardom, especially after his dominant performances in this year's postseason. Yet, it appears he still is relatively anonymous in the Raleigh area, something many college basketball stars from area schools can not claim.
During Sunday's media day, a local reporter was telling Staal that Duke University hoops star J.J. Redick is often stalked by fans, especially females, even when he goes to such common places as the supermarket.
    Staal could only laugh.
"That doesn't happen (for me) like J.J. Redick," he said. "I'm sure it's pretty crazy for him. Myself I can pretty much go anywhere without being bothered. I get recognized here and there, but, for me, people are really nice. People are really nice, polite and wish you luck. Never any stalkers or anything like that."
Perhaps if Staal ends up lifting the Stanley Cup over his head in the next two weeks, that will all change.
