OK, I think I have found out. I'm not 100% sure, but I've talked to some people (couldn't get thru to Direct TV yet for my zip code thing, but that would just tell me about my little area anyway).

What I've been told as far as braodcast TV:

The Market that would be blacked out has nothing to do with actual distance as in miles, or zip code, etc.
It has do do with the station broadcast that you get.
If you watch the Panthers on the Local CLT affilliate on Fox or CBS, then that station would not allowed to show the game if it is blacked out.
So, if you get a signal from an affilliate that is not in the CLT market, ie: Raleigh, Fayetteville, Wilmington, etc., then you can see the game on those stations.
Greensboro is close, and I can't say for sure if a Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem, etc. stations are considered the CLT market or not.
I guess if the Fox or CBS affilliate you get in CLT would be say a High Point or Greensboro station, it would seem that those would be blacked out.
They definitely wouldn't black out all of North and South Carolina, that would be too big of a Market that commercial revenues would affect, in a sense, allowing only very few people to actually watch the game.
I mean for real, other than Raven fans, outside of NC and SC, the only people who would get the game would be the Raven Market and fans, and those in other states who are Panther or Raven fans, and that would not amount to much of an audience, these days, who would only get the game on Sunday Ticket.
I'm sorry for those fans in the CLT market, but if I lived that close, I would be at every game, win or lose, instead of just a couple a year.

    GSO should be OK

based on what you said Coach. The FOX affiliate up here is WGHP, I believe the Charlotte one is WCCB (18, right?). Just wondering, was the last game last season a sell-out? (it was on TV up here). Wish I could be at the game, but I'll be watching (or if it IS blacked out up here, I'll wax the car and listen on the radio in the garage).

The game is on CBS this week, not Fox. I'm trying to find out more details about affected stations in NC.
This will be the first Panther blackout ever.
It probably will, the NFL requires a complete sellout, even single tix now 72 hrs in advance, and they will have to sell 2500 tix before the end of the day today.
PSL owners don't always buy season tix. Quite a few don't now.
If you don't buy season tix and you are a PSL owner, your tckets go on the market to sell as single game tix to public.

Back in 95 when the games were blacked out, we watched the game on the Greensboro stations - don't know if it's the same now or not -

I believe that if you don't purchase your tickets, as a PSL owner, than you lose your rights to your seats - at least that is what my dad, a PSL owner, told me they told him - so you pretty much forefit any investment you have made as a PSL owner, and therefore, that is why PSL owners try to sell their PSLs or Sell their season tickets to recoop the money they have to spend in order to retain rights to those particular seats.

At least that is the way I think it works anyways...

  6. what's the deadline today...noon? I guess they can ask for an extension from the NFL for Friday if they are close enough.

CBS, oops. Well, I know the local CBS affiliate in Charlotte is WBTV, and up here its WFMY, so there should be no blackout up here. And Batgrafix is right, the '95 games were on up here (man, remember when we beat SF at their house? I remember exactly what I was doing then, drinking a Miller Lite and decorating the x-mas tree. How about Sam Mills picking off the shovel pass against the Jets for our first ever win? Good times, good times..... )

I just off the phone with the WRAL (panther CBS affiliate in Raleigh) and she said she hasn't even heard that it might be Blacked out, and that she wasn't even sure if it were that they would be effective, although she said she would think that if WRAL would be affected she shoulda heard something by now.

Damn, don't ya just love the communication between the media folks about stuff like this. Guess we'll find out at gametime.
If WRAL blacks it out, then Fayetteville would also. That would mean only those at the coast and at the VA border would be the only ones in NC to see it.
