Black outs on Direct TV are the result of your zip code, that, I'm sure of- It's on the DTV web site, but doesn't list the distance or zip codes affected. It doesn't have to be way-way out.
I really wouldn't think it would be more than 100 miles, which would not be quite to Raleigh or Fayetteville, onward to the coastal TV stations, but then again I'm not for sure on that.
Does anyone know for sure, or know where the info might be?
I mean damn, by the time I would find out Sunday, the game would be over before I could get to CLT!:(

DirectTV can't be any more restrictive than what would "normally" encompass a blackout area. Remember that they have still sold commercial time. As far as I know, DirectTV simply honors the same distance enforced for airwaves and cable. See below:
    -----------------------------------
    NFL SUNDAY TICKET FAQ

I live 80 miles from an NFL stadium. Will NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ bring me all the games played in that stadium?

All sold-out regular-season Sunday afternoon NFL games are televised locally and on NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ . The only time a regular-season, Sunday afternoon game is blacked out is if it fails to sell out at least 72 hours before the game. If it is blacked out on your local broadcast station, it will also be blacked out in your area on NFL SUNDAY TICKET. Each stadium's local blackout area is defined by the broadcast signal of the local affiliate carrying the game, not by the mileage surrounding the stadium or by ZIP code. To find out if your home is inside the local broadcast area, call DIRECTV at the phone number printed on your bill and ask one of our entertainment consultants to check your ZIP code against our master list.

    Reasons for NFL blackouts:
To make sure the team benefits from a stadium full of enthusiastic fans.
To protect home game attendance of the teams.
To assure the entertainment value of a full stadium — for people in the stands and for people watching TV.

    How are blackouts determined?

If you live in a ZIP code that is within a blackout area, your satellite dish will be individually blacked out only for the affected game. You won't miss any other channels or games.

    Regional Sports Networks

If an RSN carries the game locally, a subscriber will likely be able to see the game as long as the subscriber has a level of service that includes that RSN.

Will I see an NFL game that's played at my local stadium?

You will if the game is sold out or your ZIP code falls outside of a blackout area for a game that is not sold out. You won't if your ZIP code falls within a blackout area and the game doesn't sell out 72 hours before scheduled kickoff.

  4. You can always cheat....call directTv and change your address to a relatives or friends outside the blackout area...then unplug the phone line.

When I first moved here, the Panthers were playing at Clemson. I didn't change my address from up north and did not have it plugged into a phone line...and I got the blacked out games.

    Thanks Colin, I read that.

I've gotta find my bill and call them. It's kina confusing that it stats one way thart it doesn't matter about your zip code, but then it's your zip code that you inquire about.

I guess also my question would be as far as local TV:

Would the "local affiliate" be the local CLT fox or CBS station, or all local "panther" affiliates such as Fox 50 in Raleigh and the Fox affiliate in Wilmington channel 8 I think, etc?

    Friggin' losers.
Dam, JR better get out there and start selling some tix before tomorrow, or he's gonna lose even more fans. If he can't get local people and those with PSL's to buy enough tix, how's he expect those of us to drive for hours to come and buy 'em?
Man, it's tough to lose, but having to listen to them lose on the Radio is even worse.
And if we win, it'll be hard not to have been able to see it.

    Whew!!!
Excuse me, I was a justa venting. Please forgive me for the "loser" remark....except if we lose......ughhh.........
    again!!................deep.....breaths.......deeeep.....breaths.....
    ah.....much.....better.........Peete's...............a ......winner...........ah.......Peete's a winner............
    Damn this is hard work...............

I moved to Greensboro this year . . . :suicide:
    I'm assuming that a black-out won't include Greensboro . . . right? :worried:

  8. is Greensboro 100 miles away? Just call the TV station

Coach, PSL owners alreayd bought season tix - they just don't show up half the time, that isn't the isssue though - it's the fair-weather fans that need to step up and buy the 2,000 tickets left... 71,000 out of 73,000 isn't that bad for a 1-15 team though if you think about it... but it IS the season opener... :(

It's about 75 to 80 miles I think . . . Oh well, I wouldn't see that much of the game anyway. I'll be in a house full of chicks yammering about one of my sisters up coming weddings. All the men in my family are required to be on hand to size up the new future prisoner. :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide:
