Jim Thome is no longer a Phillie. As much as this sucks I understand it. Thome has been one of my favorite players ever since he played (briefly) for the Charlotte Knights when they were the AAA farm team if the Indians. He helped along with Manny Ramirez bring Charlotte it's only championship, albeit a AAA International League championship. Ryan Howard will be a beast and Aaron Rowand is a 5 tools player that will patrol center field but I am still sad. Rumor has it Bobby Abreu may be traded. If this happens I will email the Phillies a fat FUCK YOU!

I didn't like the trade either, but the ball club had to do it. Howard is the future, and let's face it, Thome was having problems staying healthy. I wish him the best back in the American league and expect him to do well. Thome was one of the fans favorite players as well, just go to a game at Citizens and you would see hundreds and hundreds of Thome jersey's. So what do you do with the jersey now that he's gone?

Wagner was a jerk sometimes, but with that arm, dam, that one is going to hurt. Fans loved him as well, but you really can't blame Wagner for moving, with the package he got from the Mets.

One thing people don't understand about pitchers not wanting to sign with the Phillies, is the ballpark. No one wants to pitcher there with the left field wall so close. There has been talk (about 8 weeks ago) that the Phillies were going to move the left field wall back more. Haven't heard a word from my sources on that one. I believe, that Wagner might have stayed if that would happen. Maybe not!

Bottom line with all the additions the Mets have made, the Phillies are playing for the wild card again. :thud:

I seem to remember people handing Florida the division crown last season because of the players they added, and Philadelphia before that, etc. Until further notice, you're all playing for the wild card.

Bet your a Braves fan, huh? You guys have the best GM in the game, and it would not surprise me a bit if you were at the top again. But, when you are serious Phillies fan, you get used to having your dreams crushed time and time again. It would be nice to get to the playoffs (last time was 1993) once in a while though.:banginghe

The ballpark (Citizens Bank) is now (as we speak) being modified in left center field. The fence is being moved back 5 feet and raised 2 1/2 feet. The stadium is losing a total of 174 seats. Left field foul pole will still be 329' , but will immediately go out from there. Good, they need that change. Now, if we can only find another starting pitcher.
