" He also did a heck of a job on outside run contain, forcing plays back to the LBs"

I like the sound of that.

Good to hear about the up tempo.

that was probably the most disappointing part of Williams' game, the fact that a guy who the Rams actually said was a good run stopper (to counter the idea that him being the 3rd DE meant he was a rush specialist) and who was 280 lb, would have such a big problem with contain. hell, I was expecting head up and contain run to be a problem for JP this year, that he'd be best in pursuit and taking advantage of opportunities for big plays. Having a stout contain guy will be important with Witherspoon or Navies behind him.

    Surprised they're already hitting.

I like this info. This might make me head down this weekend.

'This is a more fan-friendly camp, too - especially from my POV. You'll see in the pictures that the team is allowing fans on the side of the field previously reserved for the press.'

Their probably doing this to jump start interest after last years season.

I was interested in what he said about Bright. I know fan's tend to want rookies to show too quickly but dammit we need a receiver who can stretch the field. Henning's style is, according to reports, to probe the D with many different sets during the first half. Then make some meaningful ajustments at halftime. I remember Madden back in the old Joe Gibbs days as saying the Skins did the best job of adjusting their game at halftime of any team. That was Henning. We need a good replacement for Jeffers and I hope Bright can hang.

Well, that link is now dead, but I'm not surprised that Bright is getting 'noticed'.

It was impossible not to notice the guy at mini camp.

Any word on the corners? Maybe THATS why these no name receivers are looking good.

he didn't mention the corners at all. I don't remember much mention of the linebackers, or much on D at all. Just Peppers. Mention of the top two backs, and the two QBs. Said that Fasani was good in air drills but struggled mightily with players around and against him. Said Weinke overthrew a lot.

I started to make a few notes while looking at the four pages of pics and this is as far as I got.

*witherspoon is really small looking. Woodall was, and looked, small, but he was productive...still, he was ripped. WW looks like a sophomore in HS playing stand=up defensive end. For someone not 6'2, he looks lanky.
On the other hand in his Georgia pictures, he doesn't look under weight.
And to tell the truth in the weakside spot in a cover two, you are most likely to have one undersized linebacker. Baltimore didn't have that, but they played Sharper with similar responsibilities because he had the speed.

*I can't believe Cooper just has a standard haircut with no color.
*Deon Grant looks thicker. Moose looks thinner than he did in April when I saw him out of pads. Foster looks good in the pictures...I dunno. I wasn't really that much into him before the draft but he just has the look of the real deal.
Whoever's wearing 69 is really fat.

That's what I was thinking. When I read that BC had noticed Bright I starting thinking that we may have something here. Too many people noticing. :D

The link might not be dead....keep trying. He's been having trouble with his server. I'll put another on here if that helps.

because his site's going to be up and down...

    7/28

Believe it or not, I have actual info today! This was a short practice today, probably about an hour. It was also less physical - no pads and shorts instead of pants. The only things that really worried me were the absences of Wesley Walls and Rodney Peete. Peete we knew had leg problems coming in, but Walls looked good Saturday. I didn't notice any limp, so maybe Fox was resting his veteran.

On to facts. Your starting O-line is as follows:

    LT: Todd Steussie
    LG: Jamar Nesbit
    C: Jeff Mitchell
    RG: Jeno James
    RT: Chris Terry

I was a bit shocked to find Kevin Donnalley as a backup. The second string:

    LT: Melvin Tuten
    LG: Leander Jordan
    C: Louis Williams
    RG: Kevin Donnalley
    RT: T.J. Washington

So Donnalley is a surprise backup and Leander Jordan still can't crack the starting line-up. The starting wide receivers are Muhammad and Byrd, with Steve Smith at #3. Anthony Bright and Karl Hankton seem to alternate at #4 (I may be wrong about that one, that's just the way it seems). QBs go Weinke, Peete, Fasani, Watkins (duh). Lamar Smith still starts at HB, with Foster #2.

On to the D. Our starters are Rucker, Jenkins, Gilbert, and Peppers for the line. The linebackers are Navies, Morgan and Fields. Cousin mans left corner with DeRon Jenkins at the right. Naturally, we have Minter and Grant at safeties.

When the defense switches to the nickel package, Navies and Fields exit. Brad Jackson comes in at nickel linebacker, with Reggie Howard inserted at left corner as Terry Cousin slides into the slot.

Our 2nd string defense includes DLs Al Wallace, Brentson Buckner, Shane Burton, and Fernando Smith; LBs Brad Jackson, Lester Towns, and Will Witherspoon; DBs Fred Vinson, Dante Wesley, Damien Richardson, and Jarrod Cooper.

Unfortunately, since I was writing who was where (when I wasn't snapping pics), I didn't see who was doing what (or rather how everybody was doing). But I'm making progress. Over the next week or so, I want to focus on one position a day - really get a feel for what's what.

On the lighter side (?) of camp, we did have one good hit, even in this lighter practice. On a sideline route midway through practice, Terry Cousin laid the lumber to WR Tim Baker. You gotta love this new attitude!
