Miami is small potatoes. They don't attend anything including football.

Yes. The SEC has a huge tv contract. Also, the SEC has better bowl tie ins than the ACC, esp. now that the Gator dropped the ACC.

The SEC is the last major conference to negotiate a TV deal so they have the big one.

Big Ten has an additional revenue stream with the BTN which, depending on the source, is making them huge jack or is barely breaking even.

The ACC's new deal will probably be around the size of the SEC's ESPN deal but not as big as the SEC's ESPN/CBS Football deal combined.

So football will drive this? In other words, if a Big East team such at WV or Syracuse was approached, would it be in their best interest to go? Does the BE have a better basketball TV deal than football deal? Or does that not come into play?

Yes, football drives all of this. Basketball pretty much doesn't matter.

"If the Big Ten expands and chooses the right schools, conference officials have seen estimates of television revenues doubling by 2015-16.

If the conference could lock up the tri-state area (New York/New Jersey/Connecticut) by adding schools such as Rutgers, Syracuse and Connecticut — granted, a big "if" — it could add more than 9 million TV households. Rutgers is also an hour from Philadelphia and its 2.95 million households.

"That's a lot of homes," one TV executive said, "and a lot of money."
