I think he plays it about the way he should. He should be how he is. But it's not that interesting with him. I also cant' say Bill Paxton's doing anything remotely different than anything I've seen him in since Weird Science. Guy doesn't exactly have a ton of range.

But I watch it. It's interesting.

    yeah.
I gotta admire him in a way, to have a movie written by you, about you, directed by you, with starlets revolving around you and all, but it goes a little far when your ego trip involves a porn scene starring you. it's a good one, but damn. She literally swallowed his credability.

yeah, I know. And bill's not a dumbass. But the actress didn't marry Henrickson, so I've really no idea where he was going there.

I think all of the ambiguity about them as people and their situation is what makes the story interesting.

They're not really polygamist by philosophy. They sort of came into it because Henrickson was weak and afraid when he needed help with his sick wife and thought she might die, and since he came from it, he considered polygamy a practical option. But it's not really a practical option because he's really only in love with the original wife and it conflicts with his business goals. So now he has all this baggage to carry around and deal with.

So, we know polygamy really isn't working for them, per se, but we also see how the wives sort of help each other and make up for each others' personal shortcomings. The first one is the sensible figurehead and makes money, the second one is militantly protective of and dedicated to the family, and the third one is the sweet little helper and plaything. They also show how, for all the negativity inherent in their situation, they have a large family that they keep together and raise themselves.

So they're kind of stuck with this family that should never have been, but there is real love and teamwork (and lots of conflict, of course) between them, so as viewers, we legitimately wonder, given that they're already all married to each other, how do they make the best of it, or should they even be together?

If Roman hadn't killed henrickson's dad, Henrickson would be 'prophet', and loving every bit of power.

Every character seems reprehensible. The only ones that aren't are Henrickson's children.

grandfather. His father wasn't a Henrickson, that crabby mother is. Forget the father's name but his mother wasn't "first wife". It's pretty obvious even though he isn't at that compound that he wants to claim what he feels is his. Like I said, he coulda gotten their hands off his profits and been done with it, but now he's nosing in on their stuff.

But yeah, almost everyone on that show is creepy and kinda hateful.
