I just watched "The Missing" and thought it was pretty good. It is not one of my favorite westerns of all time though:

    The Searchers
    Open Range
    Quigley Down Under
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence
    High Plains Drifter
    Rio Bravo
    Wyatt Earp
    Dances with Wolves
    Lonesome Dove (the first one)

just a few to add to the list

    Silverado
    Wyatt Earp
    Tombstone
    Unforgiven
    The Outlaw Josey Wales

it's a mini-series but Lonesome Dove is as good as it gets. (edit - didn't see that one on your list at first glance)

I still haven't seen Open Range - I need to rent that sucker.

Open Range is great. Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall in a western is hard to mess up.

Wow, this goes back so far that I can just remember that they were good movies, but can't remember much about the movie. :)

    The Fastest Gun Alive
    The Searchers
    The Unforgiven
    The Outlaw Josie Wales
    [most any Clint Eastwood]
    Shootout At OK Corral

Agree on all these - although I have never seen the original Lonesome Dove. I'll pretty much watch anything with Robert Duvall though.

Josey is great. I also still like Pale Rider alot out of all those Eastwood westerns.

I was thinking Pale Rider was good too. Clint is the best at playing that kinda ghostly stranger who rides in and kills the bad guys and then fades away at the end.

The first Lonesome Dove is great. Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall in a western is pretty much can't miss stuff. The sequels are not that great, Tommy Lee Jones did not come back and other actors played his character. Robert Duvall is not in the sequels either.

EVERYone tells me I am missing out. I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about it. So I guess I should get up off my ass and rent it.

Pale Rider and High Plains Drifter are definitely a lot a like. There are a whole bunch of individual scenes that are similar and I'm not really sure why I like one over the other. Maybe it's the way Clint takes a sledgehammer to Jaws' nuts - I dunno. :D

The scene where he kicks ass with the axe handle is great too.
