Best Team in the Carolinas

but these are not computer rankings yet. All we have right now are two polls, the Coaches' Poll, and the AP Top 25..which pulled out of the BCS formula anyways. The BCS does take schedule strength into consideration, which C-USA teams will probably hurt down the stretch.

Anyways, the new polls came out and ECU dropped to 15 in the AP poll, and is 17th in the coaches' poll.

speaking of heels fans.....are ya'll serious about being the best team in the carolinas? to say that you are better than wake or clemson or USC is rediculous. I can see you saying it about ECU since last year it was a last second win by the pirates, and ya'll are delusional, but c'mon people.....Carolina is not even in the top 5 in the carolinas, let alone best in the carolinas

 

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina will have to go after its first 4-0 start in nine years without one of its top defensive players, linebacker Quentin Cotton.
Coach Skip Holtz said Cotton is likely out for the season after injuring his right knee during Saturday's win at Tulane. Cotton was hurt during the second quarter during a goal-line stand in the Pirates' 28-24 victory.
The senior had started 23 games over the past two seasons and all three games this year for the 15th-ranked Pirates, who travel to in-state rival North Carolina State on Saturday.
East Carolina will likely also be without left tackle Stanley Bryant, who also injured his knee and is out indefinitely. Bryant started all three games this season.


Tough lose for ECU, hope he can recover and come back strong next year.

 

already knew all that. This is going to be a test. Good teams can win without one or two starters. If we lose solely because we lost cotton then we don't deserve to go to a BCS bowl anyway.

 

There's no way you can be an ecu fan. There are no reasonable, rational ecu fans. No way. None. Please expose yourself as a poser. Please.

 

haha....yes I am a pirate fan, but I have known too many times where the Pirates get a couple big wins then shit the bed. We shouldn't need Cotton to win out. Maybe he would make that difference against a team like VT or WVU, but with the conf. usa schedule and remaining non conference games....we should be able to win every game without him. Like I said if losing one starter thats not a QB (yes a huge player, but still) causes you to lose games then you don't deserve to be ranked 15th.

by the way I only allow an exception for QB because it is the most important position on the field. Not because it is a better position, but because the QB makes big decisions that have a much bigger impact on the final score.

 

True we have some decent talent behind the starters..inexperienced yes, but talented. We'll see how that plays out.

Whats starting to piss me off, though, are the injuries. We have now lost 5 starters for 1/2-full year. (Dominique Lindsay, Brandon Setzer, Quentin Cotton, Bryant and TJ Lee)

Lindsay probably wasnt the most talented..but was the starter going into the season. Setzer was a solid DT. QC was by far our best linebacker and top 2-3 on defense. TJ Lee has made a couple of mistakes but made a couple great plays as well (great cathes vs WVU and the punt block/return against VT) and Bryant (our starting OT)

23% of our starters out right now...starting to get a little crazy.
