Bo made the greatest play I have ever seen in Baseball. The "Willie Mays catch" from deep left warning track and throwing Carlton Fisk (?) out at the plate. Throw was on the fly to.

it was Mike Utley...before the season another lineman died, Eric Andolsek in a car crash...funny thing is, those losses propelled them to a 12-4 season in which they lost to the skins in the championship game.

Reggie Brown's injury was more severe than Mike's...the difference was there are new drugs now a days that control the swelling...I guess it is the swelling that caused the paralysis for Utley. Brown almost died on the turf...he had turned blue and wan't breathing, blood pressure was way way down...I remeber them hooking up an IV to him right on the field and just the shit out of the bag trying to get his blood pressure up.

Utley still hangs around the team...he actually took a few steps a couple of years ago but is still considered paralyzed.

Remeber that DB from Penn State was was in paralysis from a hit at Ohio State...the kid made a remarkable recovery...he has full motor skills and led the team on the field for a game this year...his playing career is over however. The treatments for paralysis are getting so much better now a days.

Did you guys catch the interview Packman did with him?...it was about 5 or 6 weeks ago. He doesn't talk right...something is wrong with him..

anyways, he was talking about playing major league baseball and said that they would "drink a couple of beers before the game and then go play"

You talking about Bo Boo? I heard that interview also. Bo tries his hardest to talk intlectual (sp) and it just makes him sound dumber than he really is. Of course what do you expect, he did go to Auburn. May be one of Bear Bryant's only recruiting mistakes he ever made. Told Bo he was not good enough to play at Alabama.

Adam Talifero (sp), that kid had a bright future. He was a TRUE freshman and one of the better DB on the team. Kids got a great attitude and mental strength. Very inspirational!

Napolean McCalum (sp) probably never would have been considered great, but that injury was horrible. Never saw someone kick themself in the nutts before. Makes me gag everytime I see it!

Boo, Bo speaks the way he does because he's a stutterer. He tries to speak slowly so that he doesn't stutter. I saw him at Spring Training with the White Sox is Sarasota while he was trying his comeback after the surgery. He was still faster than some of the guys they had. I thought Bo was a monster until I saw Frank Thomas come out. Damn that dude's big.

Back on subject, here's some other guys in various sports that had a premature end to their career.

    Baseball
Kirby Puckett, hit in the eye by a pitch that induced glacoma
Tony Conigliaro also hit in the face
Mark Fydrich blew out his arm after an amazing rookie season
Dave Dravecy lost his pitching arm to cancer

    Basketball
Willis Reed he's in the HOF, what could he have been with knees?
Hank Gathers died on the court at Loyola Marymount
Len Bias ODed after being drafted by the Celtics

    Hockey
Bobby Orr, never was the same after the knee injuries
    Pat LaFontaine too many concussions

    For more recent injury setbacks...

Andre Wadsworth sticks out in my mind
    Knee-jina Carter too
Steve Entman should've been better too.

No question that NO ONE is a sure thing in the NFL.

I watched Bo play at the old Crockett Park up the street. His first game against Charlotte, he struck out 3 times on 9 pitches. He swung at all 9.
The next game he hit a line drive that damaged the fence and then hit a home run that should have been measured.

I remember when Bo ran over Brian Bosworth. i guess Boz should be included here but he may have sucked without the injury.
