yeah, spinal tap is awesome. it's really different from the others, i think, because it was a whole different group (aside from the three main guys).

    in order of greatness:
    1 spinal tap
    2 waiting for guffman
3 best in show (only slightly less funny than waiting for guffman)
4 a mighty wind (a very distant fourth)

i can't say i've like eugene levy in anything else.

Fred Willard was in Tap and the others. There was one or two more in Tap that were in one of the other movies, but now I can't remember who.

yeah, i think ed bagley was in tap as well... but i'm talking more about the main ensemble. you've got parker posey, eugene levy, catherine o'hara as major characters.

plus, the last three were all written by guest and levy and directed by guest. spinal tap was written by reiner, guest, mckean and shearer, directed by reiner.

    I feel the same way!

I love Eugene in both Wind and Show especially.

It's been way too long since I've seen Spinal Tap, and I've only seen Guffman once when I was very tired. My rankings are:

    1. Best in Show
    2. This is Spinal Tap
    3. A Mighty Wind (more of a feel good than a straight-up comedy)
    4. Waiting for Guffman (I may have been too damn tired, or I may just need to see it again)

Either way, all four are movies I'd watch again tomorrow. They are great and I hope there are more in the way.

I used to think Eugene Levy was a tool. Acutally, he was classic in a bit part in National Lampoon's Vacation, but other than that, his career should thank these improv movies.

waiting for guffman is the shit. give it another go. maybe i like it cuz it was the first of the levy/guest flicks, but it's classic.

I've gotta pick it up on DVD.

My friend who introduced me to Best In Show told me that of the people he knew who had seen both, seems that the first one they saw (of BIS and WFG) was their favorite.

I saw BIS about 10 times before I saw WFG. I'm a firm believer that these flicks get better each time you watch them.

yeah, that's probably true. i had heard about wfg and then saw it and it made a pretty major impression on me. best in show was also brilliant. a mighty wind just didn't have the same punch...
