Saying it's too currently popular to be a cult film is an invalid argument since cult status is based on the difference of how well received it was when it came out in theaters versus how popular it is now...

And I saw Shawshank Redemption when it came out in theaters twice, so I guess I was ahead of the curve on that one. Not sure how well it did in theaters, so I'll leave it off my personal list.

My Spur of the Moment Top 6 (in no order)...
    Rounders
    Caddyshack
    Rocky Horror Picture Show
    Reservoir Dogs
Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail
The Usual Suspects (probably does not qualify as a Cult Classic since it won two Oscars)

A few more that still haven't done well that I like...
    Living in Oblivion
    Pi
    Primer

and a few of David Mamet films (written by and/or directed)...
    The Spanish Prisoner
    Glengarry Glen Ross
    Ronin
The House of Cards (edit -- oops, House of Games with Joe Montegna and Mamet's first wife Lindsay Crouse)

Rocky Horror is the original i guess. But ive never been able to sit thru it. Other than the fact that im not keen on musicals its not my cup of tea.

The bald dude used to have a successfull game show back home "The Crystal Maze". It was pretty neat, used to have two teams competing in elaborate mazes and solving puzzles.

Ive always linked it with Little Shop of Horrors for some reason.

And oh yeah, i funking hate Susan Surandon. She gives redheads a bad name.

In my opinion, Slingblade would not qualify, since it won an Oscar, was nominated for another and won 11 other prestigious awards. If you argue that it wasn't put out in wide release, I would not argue the other side, except to say that once it won awards, it was more widely released. I saw it then and I know many others did. I don't think anyone would vehemently argue with you if you wanted to classify it as a cult classic.
