    i'll start the bidding at...

    "betty's not a vitiman" -- never hit it big, of course, but that was the name of a friend's band up in atlanta (circa 1988). in the flinstones vitimans, betty was the only regularly appearing character from the tv show not to e included as one of the children's multivitiman shapes.

    good effort, i say.

    what are some of great names from the more mainstream bands (and, considering they never recorded, anything is more mainstream than BNV).

    barenaked ladies? BNL dont really know if that is great... they do make great music...

    when i first heard this band's name, i thought it was rather weird...but now no...

    squirrel nut zippers (SNZ) as we know it on this moment thread. this is the very first band posted by the thread starter, and the tune, "meant to be".     :D

    "Lollipop Lust Kill"

    or how about

    "Cattle Decapitation"

    "....and you will know us by the trail of death"

    "posion the well"

    "Mustard Plug"

    I think one of my all time favorites would have to be

    "pissing razors"
