My point was we are talking about best players not producing the best team. Williams was an all around great player, he had more post season success than Ford and deserves to be mentioned in the best players. In 3 years he was top 25 in just about every relevant stat. Another year and he would have surpassed Dawkins for leading the league in scoring, would have been 3rd or 4th in steals and top 5 in assists. Only three year player to be in the top 25 in most of the stats.

I don't think I am saying JW isn't a good player/ great in some aspects. I just don't see him as a top 5 player or top 15 for that matter to make an all-third team.

One of the things you have to remember when talking about total number vs. averages is that his total numbers with another year would have been up there for sure, but you are also talking about an era where they play a lot more games so it's really hard to use that stat solely. IMO averages per game work better so that way we don't even have to worry whether or not he played his final year.

There have been many players who were in top 25 stat wise in a lot of categories each year, unless you mean alltime. Again Sly we are talking all time, not just one year or even three. IMO, JW is third at best for a guard on dooks list. I would have taken Hurley or Dawkins either one over JW.

Michael Jordan played 3 years and isn't in the top 50 even of any major stat. My bet is you wouldn't hesitate to put him in your top 15.

LOL, actually I probably wouldn't put him in my top 15. Sly I can be unbiased about this, question is can you?

So Sly, just curious, what would your first 3 all-time teams be? Are you going to make the team up of overall stats or what would make a team that could go out and win games.

I mean somebody said the best 5 players even if they were all centers or like that.

Would you consider any other intangibles? Leadership, heart, basketball IQ, etc?

I don't see JW far from the top just not top 15.

But you didn't argue when someone threw him out there and you did when JW was, is that unbiased?

How many other PG's led his team to two sweet 16's and a NC? With similar all around great stats? I still remember that Maryland game where he single handedly overcame a 12 pt deficit with under a minute to go. He had it all and the will to win. I would only put Laettner above him as all around better player at Duke.

Jason Williams couldn't carry Phil Ford's jock.

As much as Ted Williams does for his career. You want to argue that Tino Martinez is better?

Phil Ford also had to win the conference to get into the post season, this should be irelevant.

Awful arguement. Phil Ford isn't top 5 in any ACC stat.
