    Speaking of Ron Dayne.....

If he is cut, we could get a bruiser there with something to prove.

    Why ya mad at me?

I'm just expressing my opinion, Hell I'd take LJ, Just wanted to know whether you had some insight on the Panthers taking a RB in round 1 or if you just had a hard on for LJ?

    wow. Anger issues.
Anyway, I really just don't see LJ as a premier back. Great bruiser, but even guys like William Green had that and breakaway speed. And moves, to a point.

    >>RB depth isn't there past Lee Suggs. He could go in the first IMO. I see RB and WR addressed early in the draft.

Depends. A different OC could change that.
But let's not assume that just yet. I still think there are good backs out there after Suggs. Not a ton that fit us, but enough that we don't have to take LJ just because.

i don't think we have any chance at McGahee. if he comes out, Detroit will take him at #2. So unless we trade up to #1, you can forget about him. And if we trade up to #1, its for a QB. i don't see us going RB with that 1st pick, only because i don't think the value will be there. if we stay pat, there's a good chance there won't be a WR of value there either, unless Williams comes out. which i think means we would go OT, CB or DT. this being the (head)case, i'd rather trade up and get one of the QBs. use the FA money for other needs. maybe get a so-so QB FA with a two-plan to the playoffs in place. (course, Fox already has stated that he expects us to go next year -- not a good sign that he is thinking of using a 1st round pick on a QB).

i think in addition to Cincy, Houston and Dallas (in particular) could look to trade down, which would put us in the QB hunt if we could deal with them. i'd bet on WA to trade up with Cincy and take Palmer. wasn't Spurrier trying to deal for Harrington last year? CHI will probably stay put at #4. The cost to move up would probably cost them too much for it to make sense for them when they know they will get one of the top 3 (now if Manning doesn't come out, they could get screwed or be forced to move up or take a chance on getting a Simms or Ragone in the 2nd round). if we want one of these guys, we will have to jump up and it's going to cost a bundle in draft picks, i think.

drafting one of the 3 QBs would raise up the hopes and spirits of the fans and create a buzz of excitement we have not seen since '96. and this would be a young team with loads of promise. signing a Griese or a Plummer and drafting a OT or DT would be depressing for most of us, i think. certainly wouldn't be too exciting.

i could get a little excited about trading for McMahon, but he'd probably cost us a 2nd. but he'd be a whole lot cheaper than it would cost us to get Manning. if we got both McMahon and Johnson (WR) and a RB and TE somewhere, I'd be pretty pumped.
