I wish they'd do away with them all together.

I would actually like to see the ACC, PAC 10 and BigEast implement championship games. I wouldn't mind seeing the winners of those games in the playoff. Would make regular season conference games even more important.
Of course they would definately need "at-large" teams as well to complete the playoff and let the other leagues and Ind. in the mix. But surely something can be done. Right?

That would make some slots easy to fill. But how to fill the others? BCS-type ratings? It will have to get down to a committee, something like b-ball.

In the previous post, I was just talking about tinkering a little. But if you want to talk about totally revamping...

8 major conferences. 12 teams each. That covers 96 of 117 1-A teams. If you are in the lower, lower, lower tier of college football tough shit.

    16 team playoff.
8 regular season conf. champs get automatic bids.
8 bids from the BCS ratings/committee/whoever.

I feel a lot better arguing about who the team left out at 17th is - 'cause they ain't winning anyway.

I realize that snow will fall in hell before this, but I've always wanted a 16 team setup instead of an 8 team deal.

  7. Basically it's better to win early than to lose late. Look at K-State. We're ranked #8 in the polls and #10 in the BCS (thanks to our soft early schedule). We lost 2 games (Colorado and Texas), but we've come on strong in the last games and have such a high ranking. Lose early and you still can make up for it. Lose late and you're screwed!

This would be ideal, too, I think except you're forgetting Notre Dame. What to do with Notre Dame....

thats why I said my comment earlier about Notre Dame. Say they were to lose twice at the beginning of the year and win out. They are in the BCS if not playing for the MNC every year.

A lot of teams are doing just that, you're right.

Um, did you say 70+ teams are playing in bowls? More like 69+ teams....
