Really happy they didn't get bailed out of that one because the pass interference call on 4th down was completely bogus.

    They shouldn't. They're a legit 5-10 team.

OK St going down does make for choas in the BCS rankings and now the part I hate will likely begin as coaches and fans begin pleading their case for why they deserve to be #2. Of Course with three more weeks to change things, a lot can happen, but it sets up as another year of voters, media, computers, and coaches deciding who plays for the championship instead of the players. I just hope we can look back at all the BCS stuff 20 years from now and laugh at how stupid it used to work.

#1) Are the regular season results being decided by votes and computers? I thought the players were actually ... you know ... playing them.

#2) LSU already beat Alabama in Bryant Denny and Oregon at a neutral site, so it already was settled on the field. Why should they have to play those teams again if you keep insisting that results on the field matter so much?

The rankings are being decided by votes and computers based on game results. If LSU runs the table, then the voters and computers are going to decide which team (Oregon or Alabama) gets the rematch. Any more upsets with the top teams, and the BCS system will get totally ridiculous.

That didn't answer either question, though. Why do people talk about the need to settle the results on the field and then completely ignore regular season results?

In other news, the ACC could be playing for the national championship if Clemson just hadn't fucked up against Georgia Tech. *sigh*

Well, in most sports, the regular season results are used to decide who makes the playoffs. The BCS just decides who the top 2 are & holds a championship. This season we've got 2 teams,(Oregon & Alabama) who can both claim they should be in the title game, if everybody wins out. The voters & computers are going to decide who gets the rematch. A small playoff eliminates that uncertainty & controversy. Personally, I would rather see LSU vs. Oregon in the title game. I think the game would be more entertaining. That being said, I also realize that Oregon could be knocked off tonight against Southern Cal & be totally out of the picture.
