BCS Championship Time: Who will be screwed?

I agreed with everything DaveW said up until that statement.

 

I said before the game that I thought Alabama was the better team, but the better team doesn't always win and LSU was more deserving of the national championship based on their overall body of work. Unfortunately, crapping the bed last night made that impossible to recognize.

It's safe to say that Alabama is the better team, but LSU made the difference look bigger than it really is by playing scared. They kept calling those short throws that Alabama nearly intercepted even though they hadn't even tried deep routes, much less given up sacks on them. Horribly coached game by LSU, and just an embarrassing performance by Jordan Jefferson. Kudos to McCarron, though, who was damn impressive.

 

Because Alabama played a shitty schedule. Kent State, North Texas, and Georgia Southern in non-conference? Really? Plus even their SEC schedule wasn't that hard. They got LSU and Arkansas at home, then didn't really play anyone else in conference who was worth a shit. Alabama needed a miracle to make the championship game and they got it thanks to Boise & OSU choking. Hopefully they won't be such pussies in the future and will choose to play more than one decent non-conference opponent.

 

good lord you say some dumb shit sometimes. So Alabama plays in the toughest division and toughest conference in the whole fucking world but yet they dont play anyone. who would you like for them to schedule so they play can play someone?

 

The Green Bay Packers might be a good start.

 

Kudos for playing at Penn State, while LSU & Arkansas were quality opponents even though both games were at home. But you can't pretend to defend scheduling Kent State, North Texas, and Georgia Southern. Meanwhile Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn were all down (and expected to be), while Mississippi, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State were garbage. Alabama can't control how many of its SEC opponents are going to be worth a crap, but they shouldn't be playing three cupcakes every season.

Play at least two legitimate BCS teams in non-conference. Last year they scheduled San Jose State, Duke, and Georgia Southern. In 2009, it was Florida International, North Texas, and Chattanooga. In 2008, it was Tulane, Western Kentucky, and Arkansas State. 2007 was the last time Alabama played two decent non-conference opponents in Florida State and Houston (Western Carolina & Louisiana-Monroe were the other two). I don't mean to just single out Alabama for this, though, since the whole SEC is notorious for soft non-conference schedules.

 

Alabama does start out next year with Michigan, but you're right about the cupcakes. They probadly think that if they take care of business in the SEC they'll move up to the top of the rankings regardless, given the strength of their program & the conference. No need to add any possible hiccups to the non=conference schedule. Bama adds Missouri & Texas A & M also next season + travels to LSU & Arkansas. Next year will be much tougher for the Tide.

 

LSU plays a couple of cupcakes every season.
