December, huh? Last I heard it was Sept. I first heard about this back during the big snowstorm in Feb. It just so happened that Sci-Fi was running the originals during the day that week and I caught more than a few. The show was a lot better when I was 10 - :) - but I loved it.

Still, I'm sure I'll check the new mini-series too. If you have time to kill, go read some of the fan sites to see devoted fans bitch and complain about the new version. Some people have too much time on their hands.

If the mini-series is good enough, it might be my December avatar.

I was inspired to do a little research and I came to find out the series was based on some novels. I had no idea. I found the first book, which is out of print, on half.com. Paid $4.00, including shipping for the hardback.

The original was the greatest thing I had ever saw at the time. Of course I was like 8 years old. I have watched it since then and some of it holds up well but some of it does not. I still think it was a great concept but the effects were too expensive back in the day to keep if from being cheesy sometimes.

I am kinda against the new series. The guy that played Apollo on the original created a concept where they pick up with the original crew 25 years later. He and some of the other actors would have been in it. I wanted to see that version made. What I have seen of the new series looks slick but it is made by a former Star Trek guy and will probably be so PC that it will be almost unwatchable. Making Starbuck a woman is a bad idea IMHO. I just wont be able to adjust to that. I think they should have atleast come up with some cameos for the origina actors. I think the new mini series kinda thumbs its nose at the original series rather than giving it any respect.
