Not all FA, but all likely to be available to the Panthers.

I have to say I prefer the idea of taking a veteran QB over a rookie.

    Batch:
WTF is up with Batch? Boo? I never really watched him play much, but he seems like a McNown sized bust. Either that, or Stewart and Maddox are better than we think.

    Stewart:
I don't much care for him, but I'd have to call him my favorite of the 2003 FA crop. He seems like a guy could benefit from a change of scenery.

    Delhomme:
This guy looked great when he had his shot. It was a very short shot, though.

    King:
I wanted him until the Monday Night Game. Now I'd bring him to camp, but only as depth.

    Detmer:
Looked good when he had hios 30 minute shot, but I can live without the ass-slap touch down dance.

    Griese:
Reminds me of Collins. Obviously has a drinking problem. I don't see us going for him. He got high risk reward, because he should be cheap.

    Plummer:
I don't see us going for him b/c he's the top of a weak class and will probably get paid more than he's worth. Doesn't really fit the plan Hurney talks about - but you never know. I think he's mostly fake, but I also liken him with Stewart - sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders.

If I had to pick, I'd take:
    Signed as Starter:
    1) Stewart
    2) Plummer

Signed as Back up with a good shot at beating out Peete:
    1) Delhomme
    2) Detmer

These names make me reallly hope we can grab a stud WR and a damn good RB or 2.

Man, that's thin. We have to do something, we have to have depth behind Peete that isn't Randy Fasani.

    Is that a problem? ;)

Yea, I would have like to have seen more of Delhomme... but a big fat freakin no to Plummer - he'd be at the bottom of the list for me...

I still have questions about Griese. I have friends that live in Colorado and they all say Shanny fucked with guys head and that a fresh start is all he needs. But also Griese never indeared himself with his fellow team mates. Comes off the field, looks at photos and sits alone on bench.

Charlie Batch just plain sucks IMO

Kordell Stewert? I just wonder if he could excell in our conservative offence. He never really realized when it's time to run and when it's time to throw away the ball.

    Delhomme really intrigues me.

Plummer, while everyone says he needs a change of scenery I really thing his price tag is more than we want for an unknown commodity. Is he as bad as he looked at times or is it the supporting cast?

Shaun King? Put him in the same category at Delhomme.

Detmer? I have never been much of a Detmer fan. Too short

We will have a MUCH better idea of what our draft goals are if we get one of these guys.

For my money in order of my desire:
    1) Delhomme or King
    2) Griese
    3) Stewert
    4) Detmer
    5) Plummer
    6) Batch

Which of these will be free agents in Feb and who would we have to roll the dice and wait until cuts. If we wait we better draft a QB in draft and resign Peete

Booby Ross never let the leash on him. He wasn't allowed to check off to the opposite side of the field...hence he took a lot of sacks waiting for his receivers to get open. Moore was primarily on the other side of the feild acting as a decoy. He has a decent arm, decent accuracy, and is a real good play action fake. That last quality could garner him a look considering henning's offense...as long as there is a decent running threat for him to fake to. Sylvester Croom's offense was pretty similar to Henning's.

Morningwood and Millen didn't like him from the get go, it was no secret he would be let go after morningwood's first year. He's from pittsburgh and contacted them to play there...cowhler knew he had a good 3 rd QB and took him.

He's injury prone....let's see, he had a busted vertabrae (IR) , busted thumb and finger (eventually IR), broken bone in the knee he did while simply rolling out in an off season drill, broken ribs, concussion...I know there is more....going back into college he had inuuries. Injuries and playing hurt have hurt him in his development

He showed flashes, maybe with the year basically off his body had healed and he learned something from watching. Remeber how he played against the panthers the year barry quit? that's what he is capable of when healthy.

I am likely in the minority on this one, but I am in favor of a strong look at Jake Plummer should he not be resigned by Arizona. I am one who used to (and sometimes still does) make cases based on twisting statistics to skew a point. Well, I have learned over the years that stats can be very deceiving at times. Plummer's stats are not good, I understand that. His qb rating over 6 years is horrible and his touchdown to interception ratio is scary. However, what grabs me is 84 games, 82 starts, and 215 sacks. The guy is obviously durable and tough. I also remember seeing that he had, I believe, 22 come from behind wins. That to me is an indication of leadership. He has also stated that his first desire is to remain in Arizona, that's loyalty to a team that is acting like they don't want him. Plummer has mobility and a good strong arm and he just did turn 29. Many have said he will be to expensive, but I am not so convinced he will get that "huge" contract. In fact, imo if he becomes a free agent someone will sign him for a very very reasonable contract. Now if Denver jumps all over him and wants to start a bidding war then I will be all for letting him go to Denver. My instincts, not always that good mind you, but my instincts tell me Plummer can thrive in Carolina and he will be available for a reasonable contract. A contract that will allow us to dump him in the 1-3 year span if we finally find our "quarterback of the future". I also don't recall any significant bad press suggesting Plummer is a bad leader or trouble maker. From all I recall he has been a consomate team player. Anyways, I am in the minority for sure, but I think Plummer would make a good addition and I think he will be had for a reasonable contract.

As for the others, I like giving Delhomme a chance or maybe Charlie Batch. I am not real high on Stewart, King or Detmer, and I am afraid Griese may disrupt a team chemistry that is very very good right now.

The way Fox is I can't see him signing any of these guys accept maybe Detmer the rest are to careless with football and considering Detmer has spent most of his career in the WCO I don't like hes chances either. My bet is we keep Peete and Fasani and draft another to groom in the 1st or 2nd round. As far as Delhomme I don't know enough about him to even venture a guess.

think i'm with you trashman1962 on plummer. my gut is henning would correct his problems and give him a good offense to run in which he would flourish. not sure how affordable he will be. like you at leasted stated, my instincts are sh__, uh not very very good.

sandy, has a good eye and has pimped stewart i think, so i'd wouldn't be too unhappy to see him come here.

still, i've always had heart tugs for the promise of rooks, so my first choice is to reach in round 1 for a QB (i have no hope in leftwich or palmer falling to us ... and besides i think i like boller better) . . . even though i know that's a sucker play.

Brunell would also be a name to watch. He'd be pretty high on my wish list if he were to become available.

Del Rio likes Brunell so he's probably not going anywhere... Jack's already said he doesn't want to start a team this year without a solid QB... no matter what it costs to keep Brunell on... he wants to build around D and then bring a new QB in possibly next year or the year after
