I would like to know if you could coach a team and pick any baseball player from today and past what would be your players. Players and where they would play on your team is what I would like to know.

    Here's my line-up

OF-Rickey Henderson (my all-time favorite, and you can't go wrong with a guy that stole 130 bases in one season)
    2B-Rogers Hornsby
    OF-Babe Ruth
    OF-Hank Aaron
    3B-Mike Schmidt
    1B-Lou Gehrig
    C-Johnny Bench
    SS-Cal Ripken Jr.
    SP-Roger Clemens

    Great topic.

    1. Mickey Mantle - CF (in his prime had a slight edge over Mays)
    2. Rogers Hornsby - 2B (I have to agree here. Hornsby kills Cobb in OBP and SLG)
    3. Ted Williams - LF (Rickey is the greatest leadoff hitter, but Williams was the best hitter period)
    4. Babe Ruth - RF (best player ever)
    5. Lou Gehrig - 1B (still underrated)
    6. Alex Rodriguez - SS (I love Cal, but A-Rod was better when at short)
    7. Mike Schmidt - 3B (tough call, but he was among the tops offensively and defensively)
    8. Ivan Rodriguez - C (better offensively and defensively than Bench)

SP: Pedro Martinez (adjusted for era, his '97 to '03 seasons were the best stretch in history)
CL: Eric Gagne (he hasn't been great for a long time, but he had the greatest stretch of any closer in history, and his stuff is incredibly nasty)
