Baseball players....

    Are they born or made? Had a discussion with a friend that said, if a person is not born with the ability to play the game that all the extra training athletes do can't make them great players.

    Looking for thoughts.

    natural talent is always a plus but nothing beats a good work ethic. i've coached kids who had all the talent in the world but lost ground to those that really worked hard as the years went by.

    Baseball is a sport that has more aquired skills than any other. You can take a great athlete and they have a chance to be a basketball or football player. You can take the same great athlete and chances are he will not learn to be a good hitter. Failure to hit the curve ball has ended many a promising carreer.
