    well IMO, the worst thing that could happen is the Yankees do NOT win the World Series this year. that would make george go out and get another $10 million/season player.

    of course, i will be pulling for anyone BUT the Yankees this year despite that opinion.

    Yall are a bunch of whiney pussies. The Yankees are ruining baseball, waaah waah waah. There's a whole lot more to baseball than what ole Steinbrenner is doing. Sure you can buy great players and all that bullshit, but teams like the fucking Marlins can still win the damn series so it ain't all about what you can buy.

    I'm not denying that baseball would be more fair with a salary cap, but someone is always going to have an advantage over others, I don't care how many rules you make. That's the way it goes. Get the fuck over it.

    Actually, the entire point of making certain rules is so that some asshole owners do not always have an advantage over others. It's not that hard really. See the greatest sports league on earth - the NFL.

    By the way, how many of the main players on that Marlins winning team still play there?

    but personally, i would rather the difference be in the people that run the organization rather than whether or not the team has a bottomless pit of cash.

    for the record, i don't think that the Yankees are all that well run. they are able to gobble up multi-million dollar players that many times don't work out (see Raul Mondesi). put a guy like billy beane in the front office in the bronx and they win the world series virtually every year.

    there are some 'small market teams' that can compete on a certain scale. and every once in a while, they win the whole freaking thing. but that does not make it ok for the yankees to have a payroll that is almost twice as much as the second highest.

    i don't think they yankees are ruining baseball. but they are the only team that is able to exploit 'the system' that is ruining the game.

    I just hate to see a game that I love, played and coached go down the tubes because of some bulbous nosed rich guy has more cash to throw around.
