it was sealed a while ago. Not only do they refuse to admit a steroid problem, which taints the game, they're also refusing to agree to do the World Cup thing because it would use the IOC drug policies. Why would they refuse if there was no steroid problem..yeah

The nutless owners allow the union to run the show, and in the process get higher salaries, which screw fans out of affordable tickets. The owners could at least get a damn salary cap, but this would infer they have testicles.

As much as the fans hate the yankees for having so much money, they do pay a luxury tax, which when received, many owners pocket. The KC chiefs and brewers are two teams that receive this money, yet they are cutting payroll..not what's supposed to be happening.

MLB has to rely on PR moves to please the fans..which is the only reason Pete Rose was considered for reinstatement. Selig thinks that Rose back would make everyone forget all the problems. sad..

Baseball is America's past time..but Football is the present time.

Not to be picking nits here....but, the Chiefs are a Football team. The Royals on the other hand has spent some money and was a more competitive team last year. These aren’t by far the only teams getting money off of the over blown salaries of the few. Pittsburgh, Milwaukee(sp?), Cinci, Minnesota & KC are all called "small market", but don't make up the entire list. Yeah Baseball sucks on a lot of levels. I grew up in KC during their prime time years long before anyone really worried about how much money each teams payroll was. Back in those days the biggest topic of concern was managers kicking dirt on umpires or bumping them. In today’s baseball last season I saw the 149 million dollar payroll of the Yankees trying somehow to compete with the 46 million dollar payroll of the Royals. What a waist of talent, money and time baseball has become. As football fans we should be thrilled with our current labor situation and while it probably could be better on some levels, it is no where near as ridiculous as baseball. A-rods contract is worth more than some teams and yet he manages to be traded to the very team that everyone points to as the catalyst of the financial problem that typifies baseball. No, I realize that know one held a gun to the owner of the Rangers head when he offered that contract to A-rod...but it is the acceptability of idiotic contracts like that that have long since left baseball a shell and will forever tarnish what was otherwise a wonderful game. The only way baseball can even contemplate a recovery of the stupidity that it has become would be to have a work stoppage that might require years in order to pull its proverbial head out of its tail end in order to undo the harm that has befallen its sport. Beginning with a labor agreement that is beneficial first and foremost to the teams and its owners. A true drug testing policy and a commissioner with teeth that carries weight. It needs a union, but not one that wields the kind of weight that creates a vacuum like it has now. It needs a hard cap and it needs rules in place to disallow teams from leaving shells of itself in the wake of a world series sell off. Yeah maybe I am a bitter small market team fan, but this sport once was the greatest sport in America and while I love Football for all that it is, it will never replace the vision of George Brett, Willie Wilson and Co. from the late 80's, knowing that that time will forever be in the rearview mirror. I hate baseball now and loath the Donald Fears of the world and I say let em strike...please! Oh, and Barry Bonds is a PUNK! That is all.

Agree 100% with all of the above. The only thing that will even keep me half way interested in baseball anymore is to tune in to the final innings of the fuckin' yankees getting beat by ANYBODY.

    HEY GEORGE :teeth: :fire: :bird3: :bird6: :bird5:

First off I am not a NY Yankees fan. But this time around I am not as miserable with Steinbrenner simply going out and BUYING a player. He traded a damn good player in Soriano to get ARod. Is it an equal trade? Hell no but close. Don't hold A-Rods contract against him, Hell I would have signed it. Look at A-Rods and Sorianos numbers the last 2 years. They are very similar. George is in business to win series while others are in it to make money. Although the Yankees are making money hand over fist. BAseballs biggest problem is the lack of a true commissioner and lack of a salary cap

Yeeeeeeeeah buddy. Me too. It's only about football (NFL mostly), March madness, local hockey, and women's volleyball when it gets warmer, mostly in hopes that their unies will get even skimpier :naughty:

    PP,
you bring up a good point in that the Yanks traded a damned good player to get A-Rod. and although Soriano has put up some incredible offensive numbers the past two years, this deal is way one-sided. the yankees get the BEST all around player in baseball (let's not forget A-Rod's two gold gloves at SS vs soriano's .970ish fielding percentage the past two years). On top of that, Steinbrenner gets $9 million bucks a year towards A-Rod's salary.

I will say this...i do not hate on steinbrenner for doing this deal. he is working within the confines of the luxury tax rules and is willing to ante up in order to win. what i hate are the Yankee fans up here who think this trade is good for baseball.
