In his final year of eligibility Pete Rose is left off the Hall of Fame ballot. From here on out he would have to be sent to the hall by the veterans committee.

As a player he has few peers, as a human being he is a scum bag IMO

Pete Rose deserves to be in the HOF even if he is a scumbag. If I were him, I'd take every jersey, bat, ball, hat, glove, jock strap..etc out of the HOF.

Sure he does. No one is arguing that. But he brought the game into disrepute. So he can fuck off.

Pete Rose hasnt damaged the game near as much as these steroid jerks. Bonds and mcgwuire have damaged much worse than rose.

Isn't there a separate museum in Cooperstown that has a huge Pete Rose section in it?

I think eventually Rose has to get in the hall. His numbers are too good to ignore, and it's not like the Hall is full of nothing but all around standup gentlemen anyway.

What I would do is wait until after Rose dies, then put him and Joe Jackson in the hall, but note their "issues" on their plaques and note that they were not admitted until they died as a result of their bans for life.

Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb were great examples for baseball off the field were'nt they?

You know what, I am sick of hearing those BS comparisons. Cobb was a racist prick, but don't forget that the official policy of MLB was to exclude black players. And there are plenty of pricks in the Hall. What Ruth did in his spare time, really is his business - as long as it didn't put the game in a bad light. And if we are gonna exclude drunks from teh Hall, it's gonna be mighty small.

Rose bet on baseball. He's admitted as much. He brought it ON the field. Fuck him.

At least Shoeless Joe was too stupid to know what he did. Rose wasn't half the player Jackson was anyway.
