How did this years collection of all time greatest whiner allstars do in the big dance?

Did they make it very far?

This years collection of UNC allstars that probably wouldn't even make the 20 man UNC all time roster is rolling. Maybe all the way to another title.

I bet your greatest all time team couldn't even beat THIS YEAR'S UNC team.

1. the core group made it to the final Four and lost on the infamous J.W. putback to the Marquette team that whooped up on the tarqueers

PG- Ford, SG- Scott, PF- Worthy, C- Daugherty, W- Perkins.

Charlotte
PG- K. Williams, SG- H. Williams, SF - Basden, PF - D. Jonson, C - Maxwell.

In an on the court matchup of these two starting fives, UNC's would win by at least 20.

Ford was a far better point guard than Keith Williams was. If your all time best point guard averaged under 5 assists a game for his career, you're in trouble.

Charlie Scott was four inches taller than Henry Williams was and was almost as good a scorer. In an imaginary game between these two teams, I think the Heels would just feed Scott the ball over and over again.

Basden is a great defender, but he couldn't match up with either Perkins or Worthy.

Demarco Johnson could probably bang around with Worthy and Perkins and is the only position that I'd call a push.

As great as Maxwell was, he'd be overmatched trying to guard Daugherty.

And we won't even get into the benches of both these imaginary teams....

Charlotte can boast of a fine group of former players. But to say they could match up with the all time best from Carolina or "any other school in the country except maybe UCLA" is simply ridiculous.

And BUCKO - you are right about that point spread but wrong about Demarco vs Perkins/Worthy matchup. Either one of those Tar Heel players would mop the floor with Johnson.
