With the exception of their extremely good fortune to draft Chris Paul, the Hornets and George Shinn are pretty much the exact same things they were when they were here.

I miss having an NBA team that the community is excited about, but I don't think the Hornets would have much more interest than the Bobcats have right now.

they are the same but no ray fucking woolridge. he had a huge hand in moving that team and hes no longer with them.

and I think people would be much more interested in the team today vs the Bobcats. a team that would have had 20 years of history in the city. it would be harder to piss off die hard fans than it is to create new ones like the Cats are having to do. all my opinion of course.....

Are you sure? I thought I remembered Mash playing (and well) against the Bucks (that must have been 2001).

I remember losing to the fucking Nets the last year the Hornets were here (2002?). I thought we had to finish off Orlando without Mash (he went down right before game 2 I believe).

My mistake, you were right. That must have been why Baron stepped up so much that playoff series, to take over the scoring load from Mash.

That Bucks series was legendary (for Hornet fans at least,) it still burns me the leads we blew in Game 6 and 7. I still can't stand Ray Allen (or Tim Thomas, or Glenn 'I'm no longer Big Dawg but I'm gonna fuck the Hornets' Robinson.) But especially, Sam Cassell.

    Tough series.

The Nets series sucked in that it seemed like we didn't even try.

Speaking of which, is anyone else disgusted about all the media whining over the Supersonics? It infuriates me because they didn't do anything when the Hornets skipped town. Hell, Charlotte still holds 6 of the top 10 NBA attendance seasons of all-time while Seattle has none. While I couldn't give two shits about the NBA now (because of Shinn, Stern, & Woolridge), I remember waiting in line at Belk's to get Kelly Tripucka's signature. I'm sure I have pictures with Muggsy and old Honeybees calendars around somewhere as well.

Yes. It's absolute bullshit that they got to keep their colors/logo while that was never even considered for us.

It was eye-opening how little 13 years meant to the nation when that happened, to me personally. Half my life was spent pulling for that team and the one consolation I even got came from George Shinn's mouth once he hit New Orleans.

Seattle does have a championship, but hell, we were the winningest of the current expansion teams, we had a winning record against all of them (our last win against the Heat put us over .500 against them lifetime,) and we had a nice streak of .500 or better basketball.

To me, the Charlotte Hornets are a seperate entity from the New Orleans Hornets, I don't consider anything that's happened there a part of 'Hornet History.' Once they left, they forever became the Whorenets to me. Fuck the NBA for not even giving us the dignity of our team colors, while 'holding' the Sonics scheme for a team that likely won't come (unless there is another relocation.)

I remember waiting 2 hours at Belk for fucking Alonzo Mourning to sign a ball. That fuck didnt even say anything when I said hi.

LJ, on the other hand, he was a trip. Laughing, yukkin it up with fans and the sponsors. He was a natural showman...

I remember running into Hersey Hawkins and his wife shopping for baby stuff at the Walmart Arboretum. He looked like that was the last place on earth he wanted to be. I should have asked him for an autograph although he probably would have denied being himself out of embarrassment of being in a Walmart
